A war isn't going to take any focus off a political scandal......It's got to be a celebrity scandal.

I smell Miley Cyrus sextape.

Obama said this in 2007, not anything real personal against him because other politicians have flip-flopped way worse, just shows the state of American politics though.

It won't be him that makes the decision, it would be the UN as a collective agreeing to a certain level of intervention. It might be arming the rebels, it might be enforcing a no fly zone again or it might be limited strikes. US won't be declaring war on their own against Syria.

America charging head first into another war, not surprised. The Iraq wars coming to an end, Afghanistan has tapered out, time for a new war!!!!!

Haven't really kept up with the situation in Syria, but is there any real proof they used chemical weapons? Its not like it'd be the first time rebel groups lied out their ass to get sympathy from the world. Quite often it turns out that the 'good guy rebels fighting for freedom' commit more atrocities than the 'evil government'. That part of the world is just messed up and go to war pretty easily. Just look at Egypt becoming a mess again because their elected leader didn't live up to his promises (democracy for ya, have to choose between a bunch of liars).

It's not the Egyptians fault for the military coup, they elected their leader. But they elected the wrong person, it's like the 70s all over again. And the UN cherry picks who is put in charge of Muslim countries. Syria is also another cherry picked territory that the leader who was chosen by the UN has a target for basically thinking different, Arab spring fucked him over, the Syrian governemnt wasn't an issue before all this. Funny how that works?

So apparently now the death toll that was previously thought to be in the thousands is now "at least 100" and the use of any chemical weapons is being debated as well.

You act like facts get in the way of war.

Oh of course not, I just thought that was relevant to this thread even if it isn't relevant to the US Government.

Chemical weapons just seems to be a buzz word, mention it and its guaranteed to get the war machines turning without proof.

"The real war will never get in the books."

Nowadays it does seem that war is just fueled by an ultimatum. The last good war was WWII and coincidentally, that was the last war in which the President went before Congress and formally asked for a declaration of war. That being said, we haven't had too many great presidents since FDR.

So Syria has now accepted Russia's chemical weapon proposal which would put their weapons under international control to prevent a US Military strike as Obama stated that he would reconsider if they accepted it.
