Watching today's Show and I hope a Year from now the World is in a better place because NJPW needs fresh talent for real. I'm kinda getting tired of the same guys in the same spot and not expecting the same outcome. The Junior Tag Title is pretty obvious to see ELP/Ishimori vs whatever Tag Team and they lose to set up a title shot at the next big Show. Next year open up the competitors and get some spark back into the Tournament.

Lol I meant to post the standings after Day 1 here but did it in the other NJPW thread. Anyway here's the standings after day 2:
  • Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo 4 points (2-0)
  • El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru 4 points (2-0)
  • Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask 4 points (2-0)
  • SHO & YOH 0 points (0-2)
  • Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato 0 points (0-2)
  • Gedo & Dick Togo 0 points (0-2)

Bit surprised they're doing the losing streak with SHO & YOH but I fully expect them to make a late run that should be fun to watch. Don't think we'll have to worry about Eagles and Tiger Mask as the tournament goes on either, hopefully they use their matches to set up some nice challenges for Eagles after Hiromu (unless Hiromu just wins which is fine too)

Yeah New Japan loves having their babyfaces coming from despair and winning in the end including the G1 Climax. Problem is Sho and YO have won this very Super JR Tag League three times since 2017 and I feel it's time for a new Champion but how else will we get contenders for the Junior Tag Titles.

Yeah I wouldn't have them win this year, but I'd have them do the comeback and just fall short. I'd use it to get even more heat on ELP and Taiji myself

Suzuki-gun looking alright in day two, but Gedo and Togo actually made them work for that win. Which made it interesting, rather than doing a comedy fail loss.

3K losing two in a row - although Tiger Mask is just sidelining to put Robbie Eagles over. Not complaining though - as the best Australian talent in the world wins again! HOO ROO YA SHIT CUNTS!

8/8 NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING SUMMER STRUGGLE 2021 RESULTS
By James Kurokawa on 2021-08-08 22:23:00
8/8/21 Results for New Japan's Summer Struggle 2021, Super Jr. Tag League continues from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1 - Tomoaki Honma, Togi Makabe and Toru Yano vs. Jado, Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens

Bullet Club was about to do their Two Sweet Salute but attacked their opponents instead. All six men battled on the floor. Everything settled into a normal tag match where Bullet Club kept Yano in their corner, keeping him away from his partners.

Owens pins Honma after hitting a low blow after Yano hits the referee by accident.

After the match, Owens low blows Yano and tells him that he will say “I Quit”. Makabe makes the save and chase Bullet Club from the ring.

The Japanese announcers made it a point to speak of the late Bobby Eaton and what he meant to Chase Owens.

2 - Satoshi Kojima, Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Shingo Takagi, BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito

BUSHI came to the ring with a hybrid Godzilla/lucha mask, which also had a blue light to imitate radiation. Very cool. The movie Godzilla vs. Kong has been a sponsor of the Summer Struggle Tour.

Match begins quickly as CHAOS attacks. Takagi and Kojima battle in the ring.

Takagi pins Kojima with Last of the Dragon.

Really good match and a preview of the upcoming Tag Team Championship matches coming soon.

After the match, BUSHI was mouthing off to Ishii. Ishii attacked him and took off his mask. The young lions rushed to help him. One of them took off his shirt to cover BUSHI’s face.

3 - SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021: Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado vs. Dick Togo and Gedo

Desperado sprinted to the ring to start the fight. He was talking lots of trash to Gedo and Togo. Suzuki-Gun double teamed Togo until Gedo took the match to the floor. Togo came off the ring apron onto the leg of Kanemaru. Bullet Club punished Kanemaru’s leg and kept the hot Desperado on the outside.

Kanemaru was able to dropkick the leg of Togo and make the tag. Desperado cleaned house. He quickly applied Numero Dos on Togo and wrenched it tight. Togo gets to the ropes but Desperado stomps on his leg. Desperado tried to whip him into the ropes but Togo crumpled to the mat, unable to run. Desperado picks him up and they start punching each other. Togo tries for a crucifix. Desperado kicks out and Togo turns it into a cross face submission.

Kanemaru comes into the ring to stomp on Togo to break the hold. Gedo kicks Kanemaru in his injured leg and he falls to the floor. Gedo goes to attack Kanemaru.

Togo hits a Pedigree on Desperado and goes to the top rope. He goes to hit his signature Seton but Desperado gets his knees up. Desperado is grabbing his knee and Togo rolls to the floor. Gedo gets back in the ring and gets a Spinebuster from Desperado. Tag to Kanemaru. They battle in the ring. Kanemaru goes for Deep Impact but Gedo gets his leg up and low blows Kanemaru. Gedo with a Dragon Screw and Figure Four on Kanemaru. Desperado breaks the hold. Togo pushes Desperado into the referee. Desperado rocks Togo with a right punch. Gedo punches Desperado with brass knuckles. Gedo goes to punch Kanemaru but he ducks. Kanemaru low blows Gedo and he hits Deep Impact.

Kanemaru pins Gedo.

Great match between two awesome heel teams. Gedo and Togo continue to look great as a team. They are the veterans who know how to cheat and turn the match in their favor.

At first glance when the tournament started, you knew that Gedo and Togo would not be winning. However, with their heel tactics, every team will have to earn a victory against them. Desperado acted as if this was a squash, but the match ended with Desperado on his back and knocked out. Both teams still look strong after this match.

4 - SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021: Tiger Mask and Robbie Eagles vs. SHO and YOH

Both teams start off clean, no shortcuts. Tiger Mask and Eagles looked like the more polished team as they attacked the surgically repaired leg of YOH. SHO tagged in and Roppongi 3K started to get into gear. Eagles hit a dropkick to the leg of YOH. Eagles hit a 450 splash on YOH”s leg and applied the Ron Miller Special. SHO tries to save his partner but Tiger Mask holds him back.

Eagles punches the left leg of YOH, who taps out.

SHO and YOH looked upset after the match. The comments from El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori from yesterday could be messing with their heads.

5 - SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021: Master Wato and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori

Taguchi and Wato told Red Shoes the referee to check the ring gear of Bullet Club. Red Shoes checked both Ishimori and ELP. He made ELP take off his ring boots. ELP gave his boot to Red Shoes, who was surprised to find something inside. He showed Taguchi. Taguchi looked inside and found a paper with the words “F*CK YOU TAGUCHI” written with black ink. Taguchi showed it to the camera.

Hilarious!

Ishimori and Taguchi start the match. Some comedy dancing spots by Taguchi and Wato, which frustrated Bullet Club who were trying to stay serious. It became a very competitive match. ELP lifted Wato into a torture rack position. Ishimori came off the top rope with a knee to Wato’s head and ELP spun him in a modified F5. Taguchi breaks up the count.

Ishimori grabs Taguchi and calls for ELP to hit Sudden Death. ELP looks confused and tells Ishimori “I can’t”. They are implying here that ELP cannot hit Sudden Death because hit boot was always loaded with something in the past but now it is not.

ELP clotheslines Taguchi to the floor. Wato recovers and hits ELP with high kicks and goes for a pin with Recientemente. ELP kicks out. Wato goes for an RPP off the top rope. He misses. ELP hits CR2.

El Phantasmo pins Master Wato.

Good match. The storyline of Sudden Death and the loaded boot will be talked about on commentary again. Phantasmo has many finishers so he does not have to rely on it. This win show why Ishimori and Phantasmo have the Jr. Tag Titles. They are the best team in the division right now.

Phantasmo got the mic and he chastised Taguchi calling him a green “pervert” and that he and his blue “pervert” could not get the job done tonight.

He thanked the fans in Korakuen Hall. He thanked them for coming to Bullet Club’s cutest showcase of the Jr. Division. He said we are all fully vaccinated and he wants everyone to be vaccinated so they can pack everyone to the rafters in this building. He wanted everyone to be chanting “ELP” or “Let’s go Bone Daddy”.

ELP plugged the New Japan show Resurgence in California and gave a shout out to Jay White.

ELP called out Milano Collection AT at the announce desk and invited him to come into the ring. Bullet Club wanted to give him their new T-Shirt. The announcers were not allowed to leave their desks and enter ringside. Bullet Club waved Milano off. They invited the young lion Yuto Nakashima into the ring to ask him if he wanted a T-Shirt. Ishimori grabbed his arms and ELP hit a straight fist to his groin. Nakashima fell to the mat in pain, while Bullet Club did their Two Sweet salute over him.

Super Jr. Tag League Standings:

El Desperado/Kanemaru - 4 points

Tiger Mask/Eagles - 4 points

El Phantasmo/Ishimori - 4 points

Wato/Taguchi - 0 points

SHO/YOH - 0 points

Gedo/Togo - 0 points

Dick Togo refusing to give ELP the easy victory - I like it.
