Ninja Turtles poster creates controversy

So, this Australian poster for the new Ninja Turtles movie has created quite the buzz, due to the release date of the film.

During a discussion I had about this I brought up 2 points, A) This poster looks like a throwback to the TMNT 2: The Arcade Game, when Shredder kidnaps April and jumps out of the Channel 6 building, with the turtles in tow. and B) You never see Americans getting up in arms about August 24th(In 1814 British troops burned Washington, and the White House).

So what does everyone else think?

The poster is okay, don't have any poltically issues over it. Never seen the arcade game so no thoughts on that. I dread the film itself, but at least it isn't directed by Bay.

I'm sure if someone had say released Olympus has Fallen on August 24th someone would have made a gripe.


It is my opinion though in movies buildings blow up when they set this up nobody ever knew it was going to released on this date I see no big deal.

As for your point B, in special cases it would be made a big deal but I mean come on what's going to get more attention, something that happened in the 1800s or something that happened 13 years ago? I think that's a pretty dumb point to be honest.

I don't think the poster should be a problem though, it's got a burning building that doesn't really resemble the twin towers at all so fuck it and everyone getting upset about it.

every date could be found to have some tragic event that happened. I think its funny people are making a big deal out of this, its only a movie poster. Next were going to see animal rights groups arguing about what turtles are depicted as.

There are always people out there just looking for something to get offended by something. I saw the poster, didn't make the connection to the Twin Towers. And quite frankly, am more offended by the look of the turtles themselves. Are they TMNT or TRT?

I thought of the jumpers on 9/11 immediately when I looked at it, but granted I was kind of already looking for something offensive after I read this thread title.

Can't imagine the shit this poster would have got if the movie came out in late 2001.
