Discuss the current season going on at the moment.

Playoffs are right around the corner. The favourites to win the Presidents Trophy right now are the Blues, Penguins, Canucks, and Rangers. Despite being a diehard Canucks fan and with the Blues slowing down as of late I see the Pens taking the trophy. Malkin has the Hart trophy locked up. If Pittsburgh was in the position they were 2 months ago I would say Giroux would get it but Pittsburgh's success is all Malkin. Of course he has 10 points more than Giroux but the Hart trophy goes to the player who is most valuable to their team. With that said, I believe Ovechkin should give his Harts to Bruce Boudreau as it is evident that Boudreau was the true MVP of the Caps without him they're mediocre.

I just want the playoffs to hurry up and get here and put my poor Leafs out of their misery. :tongue1:

But yeah, I agree with the Penguins picking up the Presidents Trophy, both Vancouver and the Rangers aren't in the shape they were earlier in the season and the Blues are a bit hit and miss right now whereas the Penguins are just on fire and the best they've been all season.

I concur, I just want the misery to be over. The playoffs are usually pretty great though, and I'm definitely looking forward to them. Being from BC, I can technically root for the Canucks, so I guess that's who I'll be cheering for this year.

Yeah the playoffs are always a different season. Look at the Flames and Oilers in 2004 and 2006. Both of them ended the season with bad losing streaks and both of them lost in Game 7 of the Finals. They may have lost but they were 1 win away of winning the Cup and were not even considered. And then there's the Flyers in 2010, who made the playoffs on the last game of the season and lost in Game 6 of the Finals. Nobody saw that coming.

Oh yeah, the playoffs should be great. There's a lot of big surprise contenders like the Blues, the Predators, the Panthers, the Senators, teams that didn't even make the playoffs last year with the exception of the Predators. Gonna be very interesting.

I think the Blues will collapse in the playoffs. I'm calling for either Canucks/Pens or Red Wings/Pens in the Finals. Also for the Vezina, I think it's a lock for Lundqvist. Selke will probably go to Patrice Bergeron. And for the Norris, it's going to Erik Karlsson. And for the Adams, it's going to Hitchcock with nominees as Kevin Dineen and John Tortorella.

Yes! The Nucks won a really good and close game against the Kings 1-0 tonight. Despite the lack of offense the whole team played well and it shows that they are one of the most depth teams in the league as their only goal was scored by the fourth line. Luongo made 38 saves in the shutout, he is back in form. It's also good to see Henrik Sedin play a more physical game with his brother out indefinitely. I believe they can win the cup without Daniel. Hell the reason Henrik won the Hart 2 years ago was because Daniel was out for like 20-something games and Hank still lit it up.

Well the Pens were embarrassed by the Isles last night so I now think the Presidents Trophy will go to the Blues. But we will see, cause Vancouver has only 4 points less and they have a game in hand and if they keep playing like they have they could easily finish in a two-way tie for first.

The Pens were eliminated by the Flyers.

I am very sad. :/
