You have to figure Kingdom Come was meant for the older generation of Jay Z fans. (30 something, lost ones, show me what you got) With the Kayne album, he went for the love below vibe. These albums were not meant for everyone. So to say these were "misses" or flops i can't really agree. Plus Kingdom come had some underrated tracks as well. Hollywood was a pretty big radio hit here. I really enjoyed dig a hole. I wouldn't say it was the greatest album, by any means, but not his worst.

On the other hand, i do consider Blue Print 2 a flop. If it was one disc, it would have been solid. Too much filler, imo. You had a guest appearances, producers and everything, but it went away from the sound that made blueprint a classic. He went for 10x platinum, and failed.

50 Cent/Lil’ Wayne Beef?

In 2007, 50 Cent labeled Lil Wayne, 'a whore' for appearing on everyone's records and questioned his sexuality for kissing Birdman on the lips. Despite the numerous insults, Lil Wayne chose to avoid being tangled in a war of words with 50 Cent.

It seemed nothing would be coming out of 50 Cent's attacks but things have taken an interesting turn as a song titled 'Louisianimal' has begun to make its way around the internet.

On the song, Wayne took shots at 50 saying: "All about a dollar, fuck two quarters/Bitch I'll pour syrup in that vitamin water/I hope you die ugly, and tonight will be gorgeous".

Various rap forums claimed the track was old and was leaked. Surprisingly, 50 Cent didn't retaliate as expected but took time out recently to address the song in an interview with Shade 45. 50 questioned why Lil Wayne's camp didn't say the record was leaked and implied that he will be responding to the diss.

"It doesn't matter if it's old or not. Now I know how you feel. I'll leave it like it is right now and wait till I'm comfortable and then I'll do what I do. Think about it, no one from his camp said it was a leak. We could assume it was leak but he's a celebrity. If it was a leak, he would come out and say something."

50 is currently gearing up to release Before I Self Destruct in February 2009. 50 revealed he was not impressed with the present state of hip-hop and plans to take it back to its essence.

"I wanna bring hip hop back to where you can actually rap and sell records. I listen to the radio a lot and if you have a rapper on a record they are collaborating with an R&B artist. They ain't no rap records. The only rap record that's out there right now is 'Get Up'. Name one other record that a rapper raps alone all through the record".

"The format now is to go get T-Pain or go get someone who consistently has radio airplay and hope it translates into sales for you. Think about it, which average rap artist has a record out and it's just them. You gotta respect Kanye for that; he's the only one who made his own record. He made an R&B record but it was still his own record."

When asked if he would be experimenting on Before I Self Destruct like Kanye West did on 808s & Heartbreak, 50 replied: "It's an experiment because it's me seeing whether I can go back to the original format and bring the art form back. I'm sure next year my camp is gonna be influencing a lot because they are gonna see all three of us come out next year. Me, Em and Dre."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I’m a fan of 50, not so much Wayne but 50 is just talking a bunch of crap. His album will be coming out so obvious he has to start beef. That’s his selling point. And who is 50 to criticize the way rappers make songs nowadays when he’s done the same exact thing on each of his albums. His singles consist of him rapping and an R&B hook to it. “Candy Shopâ€, “Ayo Technologyâ€, “21 Questionsâ€--Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. Besides a song with an R*B hook is almost guaranteed to get radio spin nowadays. I don’t think anyone (record execs, mainstream fans, etc.) wants rap brought back to how it once was with just dudes rapping over the track because no one is buying into that these days. Everyone who listens to rap, mainstream-wise, likes the songs with the R&B hooks and 50 is the last person to say he’s going to take it back to the old days. He answered the question about whether or not he’ll be experimenting on his album like Kanye did with 808’s and Heartbreak and basically downplayed the question in my opinion. Why did he downplay it? Because more than likely it’s going to be the same old 50 album and he’ll probably have someone doing an R&B hook on at least three songs. Also, didn't Jay-Z say at Summer Jam, "I'm about a dollar, who the fuck is 50 Cent?" Weezy kind of flipped it around a bit but still delivered a similar line. Just saying...

Thoughts?

not much to speak on, 50 has an album dropping soon :/

Wayne was dumb for aiming at Fif on "louisianimal"

Wayne is easily the most relevant hip hop artist at the moment, I mean, dude is in Nike commercials lol. 50 Cent hasnt been relevant since ayo technology, his show was just canceled, his single "get up" gets no play, the guy is irrelevant.

What happens when relevant rappers diss irrelevant rappers? The irrelevant become relevant...thanks Weezy, you've just fueled 50's fire.

and I thought Blueprint 2 was Jay's worst album, BUT, it wasnt horrible. IT had some gems on it, The watcher, It was all a dream, poppin tags, me and my girlfriend, etc.

I don't have any high expectations for Before I Self Destruct because it'll probably be the basic 50 album. "Get Up" is a good song but again I don't have very high expectations for 50's album. But I do have very high expectations for The Relapse. Eminem needs to redeem himself after Encore.

50 cent's album with likely be a mix of the sound of G'unit's TOS, and his commercial "get up" hip hop sound. It'll be alright.

I think everyone's expectations for Relapse is probably through the roof. Dre's album might even be higher with the long break he took.

I don't even believe Detox is coming out anymore. It's slowly turning into a myth like Bigfoot and UFO's.

Yeah, Dre has taken so long with Detox that I've pretty much lost interest in it all together. Dre's working with Em on his project and assume he's working with 50 on his as well which puts Detox on the backburner for now. Hopefully, Detox will see the light of day and live up to the hype it had.

Wordlife, I haven't heard anything specific but I do know Eminem and 50 are coming out with their albums next year. That's all anyone knows for sure.

Before I Self Distruct is suppose to come out in Feburary on the same day that he dropped his 1st album. Relapse is rumored to be releasing in May and it still hasent been confirmed about Detox.

About the 50/Wayne beef...

50 would crush Wayne, if Wayne wasn't so exposed. Exposed meaning such a name in the game right now. 50 still hasn't recovered from last September with Curtis (his worst IMO) and when he says his single is the only rap song out there with no one on the hook, he's right. Everyone is grabbing an RnB artists to jump on the hook, I think 50 learned from his mistakes and his next album will be pure hip hop. No RnB artists, no bitch music, (Girl I'mma buy you the mall cause I'm rich like that and you're everything to me) straight hip hop. If Wayne addresses this then he better watch his words cause 50 ain't dumb, 50 can see through bullshit.

Well 08 has passed and I've actually listened to all of the artists from the XXL mag and here's my analysis from all of them. All of them bring something to the hip-hop table. Here's my top 3 to look out for this year.

Asher Roth- Sounds like Em but his lyrical content is totally different. He talks about girls, college and random shit. "I'm a blood suckin, drug puffin, thug frontin, love muffin/Why man that's quite nice, yea sure I'd love muffins"; Very entertaining to listen to, depending on how he's marketed then look out for him. He might get an audience because ofcourse, he's white but he might get more of a Bubba Sparxxx reception then an Em reception.

Wale - So left field, you don't know what to expect from him. He's not the best lyrically but he has his punchlines. He's been called the new Nas and after listening to some of the songs on his Seinfeld inspired Mixtape About Nothing, I can see why.

Kid Cudi - I see a very bright future for him. He was doin what Kanye was doin on 808's and HB minus the autotune. He makes real music, shit that will be commercially successful. And the guy can freestyle. '09 is Cudi's year.

For the rest of the rooks, Curren$y is good but he should stick to mixtape. Cory Gunz has been around since '05, unless he signs with Soulja Boy I just see him appearing on remixes and doin mixtapes. As long as Khaled is around, Ace Hood will be around. Blu's stuff is hard to find but he fits the underground scene. Hamilton, Mr. Charles Hamilton. I'm personally not a fan, unless it has a Sonic sound then I'm not really big on it.

As for rest, I see them doin their thing in '09 but not making major moves. Look out for Cudi though. Man on the Moon people!
