Year Two | Game Week One Preview

- The Jets will kickoff the 2022 campaign by hosting Cincinnati Bengals - with the Bengals having claimed a massive 41-7 victory over the Jets last season, with the defeat to Cincinnati having been the first of four losses that was the Jets worst streak of form last season that saw them go from 5-1 to 5-5 overall last season. Robert Saleh would state that there was a personal interest to claim a victory over a team that had previously beaten him, but that also it would be great for the team’s confidence to claim a win over a team that had previously dominated New York.

- Tyler Hendrickson would be seen as the biggest threat to the Jets going into the contest, with the Defensive End having sacked Zach Wilson a total of five times during the previous encounter between both teams. Offensive Coordinator Zach Parker would clarify that he had provided the Offensive Linemen with a dossier on major threats to the Jets offense this season and that Hendrickson was one of the names on the list.

- Zach Wilson would speak that no longer being a rookie had taken a degree of spotlight off him and although there was pressure on him to become the player that the Jets needed, but also the player that he wanted to become. Wilson would clarify that he understood the style of play that Coach Saleh was looking to play and that he had understood that in some games he was not required to throw the ball as much and that he could rely on the rushing talents of Michael Carter and Ty Johnson - with the most important thing being a Jets victory and that personal success or breaking records was irrelevant.

- Only one member of the 2022 Draft Class was expected to be a starter this season, with South Carolina’s Aries Fowler expected to feature in the Jets’ frontline of their Defensive Line. Fowler would have come off very excited with the prospect of being a starter in his rookie season and the 6th overall pick in this year’s draft and major addition to the Jets roster - with the pick having been Seattle’s originally following a trade in 2022, and with the Seahawks’ poor performance last season the Jets had benefited from having the 6th overall pick in the draft. Cliff Burke [Notre Dame] who had been drafted in the second round, but been traded by the Rams was also expected to get some game time this weekend - although there was nothing other than gossip surrounding this rumor.​

Year Two | Game Week One

QUARTER ONE
- Zach Wilson would score New York’s first point of the season by threading a short pass to Elijah Moore to take an early lead, but Younghoe Koo would miss his first regular season kick as a Jet by failing to convert the PAT with the scores at 0-6.

- The Jets would show a strong indication of being a very different team - with it clear that they are hiring Patrick Bailey as the new Defensive Coordinator had instilled a very different approach. The Bengals would push hard and as they entered the red zone it was clear Cincinnati was intent on scoring the six pointer. The Bengals would get brave and go big on 4th & Goal on the 1 yard line, but the Jets’ D-Line would prevent the Bengals from scoring the TD.

QUARTER TWO
- Joe Burrow would show his football smarts by rushing forward and faking a throw that would draw in enough defenders for him to make a rush and score a personal running TD to push the Bengals in the lead with the PAT converted. The Jets would respond on the next play with a field goal kicked by Koo to send the scores to 7-9.

- The Bengals would push back in front with Joe Burrows throwing an impressive long distance 54 yard pass to recent Cincinnati signing Davante Adam that would leave the Jets looking rattled by the bullet pass with the score now 14-9. The Jets would continue in focusing on running the ball, with Michael Carter smashing in with a 1 yard rushing TD to poke the Jets ahead - with the special teams until deciding to go for a 2-point PAT to finish the half with it being 14-17 in favor of New York.

QUARTER THREE
- Quinnen Williams would remind the league and all its spectators why he is in many ways the most important member of the Jets team and would signpost this fact by hitting Burrows with a devastating sack that would send the Bengals’ QB back for a loss of seven.

- Wilson wouldn’t shy away from throwing the ball, despite it being clear that New York’s offensive strategy was very much built around running the football, Wilson would throw a short pass to Corey Davis to push the Jets further into the lead 14-24.

- The Jets would continue to hold a brick wall defense and prevent Cincinnati from pushing and they would be forced to kick a field goal from the 8 yard line. New York would keep on playing strong, that Zach Wilson would scramble out of the pocket and rush forward and smash through two defenders to score a rushing TD. The Jets though would continue to impress with Ashtyn Davis intercepting a ball thrown by Burrow for a Pick Six with Ashtyn running 65 yards down the pitch in a highly impressive defensive touchdown ending the third quarter 17-38, with the Jets having scored a staggering 21 points in the Q3 alone.

QUARTER FOUR
- The Jets would claim their second interception of the game with Blessuan Austin plucking the ball out the air, with the Jets defense continuing to look fresh and so much more streamlining than last season. With the ball back in their possession, the Jets would work their way down the field with Wilson throwing a short pass to Brown - with Antonio scoring his first touchdown as a New York Jets. Koo would fail to convert for the second time in the game, but it wouldn’t be the biggest loss as the Jets would now lead 17-44.

- Burrows would face further punishment by being sacked twice late in the came once by Von Miller and the other by Carl Lawson, this pressure though wouldn't cripple Burrows as he would manage to throw the ball once again for another passing TD, although the scores at 24-44 it would be looking a little bit too late, with the Jets defense having really forced Burrows and his O-Line to work for their dinner.

- In a desperate measure the Bengals would make an onside kick, but the Jets would recover the ball and run down the clock with the final points of the game coming by way of an FG by Koo who would score his first regular season points as a Jets with New York claiming a 24-47 victory.
