IMPACT X Division Champion Josh Alexander made his NJPW STRONG a few weeks ago in a thriller against Alex Coughlin. Yet the Walking Weapon was not going to allow his time on Friday nights to be limited to Coughlin’s open challenge series. Alexander wants to show just how much of a threat he is to anyone in NJPW in Japan or Stateside, and will look to prove his point against one of NJPW’s most accomplished junior heavyweights.
As Rocky Romero continues his quest to be back in IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship contention, a significant bump in the road was encountered at Ignition with a defeat to Clark Connors. Now he seeks to get himself back on the winning path, in an incredible main event that will pit two phenomenal submission grapplers against one another.
Alex Coughlin’s open challenge match series continues in the second bout of the evening as he faces PJ Black. Coughlin came up just short against Josh Alexander in the first match of his open challenge series, but the defeat only motivated him to call out more competition from as far afield as possible. This week, ROH’s Darewolf PJ Black returns to STRONG after a seven month absence. Will he come right back with a win, or will the focused and powerful Coughlin pick up the W?
Before the DKC joins LA Dojo Kevin Knight in Tag Team Turbulence next week, he’ll be going one on one against Barrett Brown. Some weeks ago, it was against the DKC and Knight that Quest and Brown picked up tag team victory, but egotistical outrage at not picking up the pinfall himself saw Brown turn his back on his tag team and instead align himself with Bateman. Will 50 Caliber’s ego be sated tonight with an opening match victory? Or, two weeks after showing impressive aggression and fire against difficult competition in Fred Yehi and Wheeler Yuta, will it be DKC showing his worth as a singles competitor?
