What a win for Sanada in the G1 Climax! He defeated Zack Sabre Jr. In one dramatic sequence, Zack caught Sanada in the Manji-Gatame for several minutes and it looked like Sanada wasn't going to be able to get to the ropes and it was going to be another submission win for Zack. But Sanada was able to put his foot on the ropes to force Zack to break the hold.
Hey man, not to be mean, but I am doing a rate thread for day/night 1 of the G1 and it will be posted after the show is over. So feel free to post your thoughts over there when it is posted. Thank you. Also, would you mine putting what you said in a Spoiler tag since it kind of is? Thank you, and I hope you understand.

Quick non-spoiler, Day 2 was a lot of fun, though may go down as one of the weaker days in the G1 with 3 three star matches if you go by that.

Roughly 3 matches felt like basic baby face/heel stuff, but the styles of everyone was so different that they felt very fresh. I LOVE how the matches - even the other 7 - feel so different

So apparently Jay White is supposed to be getting an updated version of his theme...which is cool and can't wait to hear it.

Well that was one hell of a win for Moxley over Naito, problem is his performance in that win was one of his worst if not the worst in the G1 Climax I feel so far. If you're telling me a guy who is 4 points up on everybody else, is possibly going to lose 3 outta the next 4 Matches and lose his Block that's depressing to hear. I have no interest in seeing Naito vs Okada again, but I get NJPW wanting to do that or White vs Okada marketable wise, but to do that and not go with something new rather than using the old is troubling to me. I hope it doesn't happen, but I'm going to have to suffer through it if it does.

Forget that Ishii vs Juice was the Match of the Night for me. This was an absolutely excellent, hard-hitting war and a perfect example of someone looking great in loss. Ishii was just great as always, while Juice showed a ton of heart and hung with him until the very end, giving Ishii all he could handle and more. The counter stuff down the stretch and crowd reactions were off the charts, and Juice winning was completely believable here, but in the end he came up short against Big Tom. I loved this so much.

With the loss of Jim Ross & Josh Barnett on the play-by-play commentary I would think NJPW would miss a beat but they haven't. The new commentators Kevin Kelly, Don Callis, Chris Charlton, and Rocky Romero have done a good job of filling in the void left by Ross and Barnett.

I kind of realized Shingo and Goto would be a hell of a tag team.

I watched the Tomohiro Ishii vs. Taichi match for Taichi's NEVER Openweight title at Dominion. Taichi showed a surprisingly hard-hitting style in this match. Normally, he's the cowardly heel who bends the rules to get the win but he fought toe-to-toe with Tomohiro.

Just got done with Royal Quest. What a fucking event. Cool of NJPW to go all in on a British card and even have a couple of title changes take place on foreign soil.

I saw some sites critiquing KENTA vs. Ishii a bit, but I was hooked on the whole match. KENTA is doing a killer job in his new heel role. The recreation of the Ishii/Shibata spot with the two of them sitting down and trading slaps was epic. GOD's involvement was off putting to me but it seems almost like a requirement for Bullet Club matches to be littered with interference. It's unfortunate but it is what it is. Was expecting some kind of non-finish for it, but KENTA walked away the new NEVER Openweight Champion. Interesting choice there. NJPW seem to be high off clout, immediately strapping a rocket to Moxley and KENTA respectively. I guess strike while the iron's hot.

Was also surprised to see the win for Tanahashi. I was expecting ZSJ to actually put him out for a bit like he promised, to prepare Tanahashi for a big redemption run heading into the Dome. But I guess we're going the other way with ZSJ's streak of bad luck continuing. He's going to really go off the rails after this one.

Okada vs. Suzuki was fantastic. Let down only by the fact there was NO CHANCE Suzuki was gonna win. I think these guys make great opponents and the story of Suzuki trying to murder Okada out of the G1 so he could get the spot leading into this gave it a great backstory. Okada seems to be hot at the right time here and the inevitable battle between he and Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom should be nothing short of legendary.

Kenta was knocked the fuck out and shouldn't have had to go that long and went straight home.

People whined about Goldberg/Taker......this was the same exact shit.

Not the same exact shit because the match didn't completely fall to pieces after KENTA got KO'd (and bonus point for KENTA not knocking HIMSELF out), but it did deteriorate and I think one of those guys should have made the call to wrap things up way sooner nonetheless.

Also, check any review of the event and the knockout is noted, with the reviewer saying things went downhill afterwards.
