A new God of War game will reportedly be revealed during Sony's E3 media briefing taking later place today. According to Forbes, a new "God of War 3D adventure" will be among the titles announced. No further details (or additional, as-of-yet unannounced titles) were mentioned, so we don't know if this is God of War 4 or even a new PlayStation 3 game -- it could be an NGP game. By the same token, we don't know for sure that it'll star Kratos. We've heard previously that the game is in the works and would be coming in 2012.

Can't wait to see what this title is going to be. Really hope it's for the PS3 though, and that it introduces a new character to the series.

Announcement is suppose to come after the UbiSoft conference, so still another hour or two. I mentioned it awhile back but would be cool to see the rise of Zeus as the main character and storyline for the new game.

I'd be down with a story chronicling Zeus's ascension to power, but I don't want the series to get bogged down in a new line of prequels. I'd really like to see if there's any way that the series could move forward.

Perhaps the next game could be set in the underworld.....that is, if the underworld even exists anymore after the death of Lord Hades.

You're in for a fucking treat. This was my absolute favourite gaming series ever until I discovered Mass Effect, the story and overall way the game plays is off the hook. IGN actually awarded God of War 1 the title of the greatest PS2 game ever made (although, they kept updating it and eventually changed that). And don't worry, you need not worry about PS2's, the God of War collection, games 1 and 2 have been re-mastered for the PS3.
