With the conclusion of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy, the future of DC Comics movies is entirely up in the air right now. DC and Warner Bros’ next step in the gameplan is Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot Man of Steel, which must fight through the general disappointment created by the last reboot, Superman Returns. That’s nothing compared to Green Lantern, which rode a 26% Rotten Tomatoes score to squeak past $200 million worldwide. But hey, at least they have movies: Wonder Woman and The Flash are left out in the cold, and Aquaman may only be a viable superhero in the Hollywood fantasy of Entourage.

DC’s rival Marvel spent years carefully assembling their stable of heroes, culminating in the smash success of The Avengers. It seems DC is going to cut through the Gordian knot and skip straight to Justice League after Man of Steel, and use that to introduce the new era of DC movies. More after the jump.

the-dark-knight-rises-christian-bale-batman-imageA source told Batman on Film that Justice League will be the next DC picture after Man of Steel, possibly lined up for Summer 2015. As suits their interest, BOF noted that the new, rebooted Batman would be introduced in Justice League before WB started a new standalone Batman series. One could hardly blame DC for using the movie as an opportunity to reboot Green Lantern. And since Snyder has implied that his Superman has no explicit connection to Justice League, there is flexibility there as well.

Treat this all as rumor for now, in part because all things Justice League—including stories that the likes of Ben Affleck or the Wachowskis might direct—should be treated as rumor. Even if Warner Bros. know exactly what they want to do with the DC heroes, they are waiting to make those intentions public. We have confirmed that Gangster Squad writer Will Beall is working on the Justice League script, and Christopher Nolan does not want to be involved. With that foundation, please feel free to take over the speculation in the comments.

So nothing new from the other day. I hope Superman doesn't suck.

They are making a grievous error in skipping the individual movies IMO. Noncomicbook people could give a fuck about Justice League where Marvel made us care about the Avengers.

I understand what you are saying, but some of them had movies and think that with the success with Batman and Avengers that they will strike while the iron is hot.

DC is going to shoot themselves in the foot if they think that JLA is going to reboot the franchises of the stand alone characters. On top of the fact, that once a JLA movie is out, there should just be JLA movies to an extent. DC doesn't have as many likable/popular characters to do movies (and all of those are linked to JLA) on where Marvel has a slew of them. Marvel could take a chance like DC is doing because if Avengers came first and flopped they still have Spiderman, X-Men, and even Blade to fall back on, not to mention the shit ton of characters who they are making movies on in the upcoming years, plus the forever rumored Deadpool movie which will be fucking epic if it gets off the ground.

DC has a good group of heroes as well but they need to establish them before they do this JLA movie

Yes, but A comic book fan will know at least the top six of Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Aquaman. Non-comic book fans more than likely know 2 to 3 which isn't much when compared to Marvel, who have a higher association with fans. And with multiple groups Fantastic 4, Avengers, Xmen, Guardians of the Galaxy not to mention each of the Avengers can be broken into individual movie (as they already have been) Most characters associated with Xmen can be broken into Orgin Stories the money is in Marvel even with flops like Ghost Rider and Daredevil (Daredevil wasn't horrible just wasn't that good) making a JLA movie before the individual movies is going to be horrid especially since Wonder Woman needs her own movie, nothing has been done with her mainstream since the 70s and I'd put money that most kids today unless they watch DC Animated Movies, don't have any clue who she is.

I think we agree on this but from different angles. We agree they should do individual movies first. But I say that the only reason Marvel has popular characters with main stream audiences is due to the movies and how well they were made. No one knew about Blade before the movies. X men maybe but the movies made them even more so same with fantastic four and Elektra sucked but people know who she is now.

And to be honest the only character that the majority of people will know is Batman and Superman due to recent movies. I would go on to say that the majority of people will know of Wonder Woman but since she has not been in anything since the TV show of the late 70's and nothing else, but there are rumors that they are making a Wonder Woman movie, but still feel that Flash and Aquaman could also benefit from a stand alone movie.

Superman also had Smallville and Aquaman was on that show a bit. Green Arrow is also getting a tv show. Green Lantern was a major movie some people didn't like it but it still got a ton of exposure.

The Flash tv show was dope so the movie in this day would kick ass IMO.

I forgot about that show. I think they could pull off a good show. I don't think they could do a decent Aquaman one at all.

Aquaman is too... lack for a better term goofy and lame. He's been the butt end of so many jokes and spoofs he can't be taken seriously.
