Retro and hipster gamers alike have something to get really, really excited about as Tommo, Inc. and SNK Playmore announce the Dec. 6 release of the Neo Geo X Gold entertainment system, a handheld gaming device that lets you play classic Neo Geo hits and party like it’s 1993.

In celebration of Neo Geo’s 20th anniversary, Tommo is releasing the NGXG pre-loaded with 20 games, giving owners an instant arcade in the palm of their hands. That instant arcade will set you back an impressive $199.99, though, so you might want to go ahead and start saving all of your pennies now.

“Great game consoles don’t die; they’re just reborn in much more affordable and convenient packages,†said Tommo CEO Jonathan Wan. “The Neo Geo X Gold is a love letter to one of my favorite consoles of all time.â€

Yeah, but a $200 love letter for a portable version of a console that came out more than two decades ago? That’s like 50 bucks more than Nintendo’s 3DS and just 50 bucks shy of Sony’s PlayStation Vita. I guess we’ll have to wait until early December to find out what the rest of the gaming world thinks about that price point.

The features, at least, are pretty nice. The NGXG comes with a headphone jack, an expandable game card slot, a 4.3†LCD display, and the ability to transfer the image to a television or monitor via HDMI or A/V out. So, technically, it’s a portable console AND a home console. The console also comes with a charging station, as well as a Neo Geo X Joystick.

And as for those 20 pre-loaded games, here’s what you can expect to come packed in with the system: 3 Count Bout, League Bowling, Art of Fighting II, Magician Lord, Alpha Mission II, Metal Slug, Baseball Stars II, Mutation Nation, Cyber Lip, Nam 1975, Fatal Fury, Puzzled, Fatal Fury Special, Real Bout-Fatal Fury Special, The King of Fighters ’95, Samurai Shodown II, King of the Monsters, Super Sidekicks, Last Resort and World Heroes Perfect.

The original system was like $700 when I was a kid, and nobody had one.

Baseball Stars 2 alone is worth the 200
Here's a man who knows his video games. Baseball Stars 2 was fucking awesome, I can't wait to play it again.
