Also I don't think I mentioned this here but I meant to and it's loosely related but Billy Corgan was on Mat Men last week, really don't have any negatives to say about it, I think I "get" him more now and he made good points.

But I absolutely lost it when he was talking about how he prides himself on how diverse the NWA is, which is 100% true tbh, they essentially check all the categories and he said its not on purpose but bc the talent rises to the top regardless of if they're gay, straight, non-binary, black, white, etc. But it's like halfway through talking about that (and me being shocked myself he was spending so much time on it), he remembered the base he catered to and he goes "but now we're extremely diverse, but we're not WOKE"

Yeah I'm not really sure what the goal was, if he thought he needed to cater to the audience of that specific pod or what but he was so much more reasonable on it than I've ever heard. The next PPV is actually a benefit show for the shooting in Highland Park last year too, he spent a lot of time on that and barely even put over Tyrus. Pretty sure he's just that much of a carny that he has a different face depending on who he's addressing and that's why the talent in NWA that I wouldn't expect to speaks so highly of him

Also another bit of an aside and I can't believe I'm saying this, I think the NWA would actually be better if he was on screen more, specifically if he did commentary. Not just bc the current commentary is so trash but also bc they never seem to know what the fuck is going on even when I actually GET the story they're trying to show lol so I think Billy is pretty trash at explaining his own angles to them but if he was on commentary, he could actually get those points across. Like I've said a million times before that he has some good big picture concepts but week to week he's a terrible booker and I still stand by that but I think if he was able to explain some of the stuff in kayfabe as it was happening it'd come across an lot better and not as random bc that commentary team is just fucking clueless half the time, it's like they're straight up calling it blind with no inside info

I think what made me realize that too was like a year or two ago when they did a bracket reveal for the Crockett cup and he was explaining why teams got the seeding they did and was pulling some great kayfabe reasoning out for why and I'm just sitting there like why the fuck do your commentators not say this lol

The only thing I worry about is how pretentious he will probably come off as lol but man if it was just Joe Galli (who's passable at play by play and has good energy even if it's a tad much sometimes) and Corgan on color to explain stories, you wouldn't ever hear me complain about commentary which rn is probably the worst part of the entire product which says a lot

Velvet is insanely bad and says some of the dumbest things I've ever heard lol I think Storm is fine and a two man team without Velvet would be miles better, but i wouldn't miss him
