how can someone like Roman Reigns be overrated when everybody fucking hates him? In my opinion, overrated isn't another word for "overpushed" or "I don't like these people right here:"
This thread would be way more interesting if you'd talk about over/underrated talent from the opinions of the fans and not the companies treatment of them, like always. Because if I'd want to read that, I'd just go to some crappy top 10 list on WhatCulture.com

Overrated: Kevin Owens (hasn't had a good match in ages, yet people still call him one of the best wrestlers on the roster), Bobby Roode, Finn Balor, Hidea Itami, Samoa Joe (same as Owens) // Honorable Mention: Braun Strowman (only person to have a good 1 on 1 match with him was Reigns)
Underrated: Sheamus, Xavier Woods, Triple H, Dolph Ziggler, Sasha Banks (she barely makes this list because she has a lot of supporters but more and more people have been turning on her and Bayley recently) // Honorable Mention: Brock Lesnar (had a bunch of really good matches for which he never gets credited for, it's always his opponents who get the praise most of the time)

Everybody doesn’t hate reigns though. Sure, he’s booed a lot, but he still sells a tons of shit, which means he’s actually also liked by a lot, and the company as a result pushes him into main events non stop, also because of his looks, nothing more.
With that being said, the opinions coming forth about reigns are not only the companies handling of him, but also our general input. Reigns is thus very overrated and shouldn’t be pushed simply because he barely sells more than other wrestlers, which is because he’s forcefully pushed into all main events and has a pretty face so women, kids, etc. eat up his merchandise because WWE makes his name well known whether you like it or not.
Reigns can wrestle well most of the time. He puts on some good matches. Always given him credit for that, but other than that, the guy can’t do anything, literally. The only option is heel. I know that’s not always the answer, but it’s the truth with him.
All of the above explains why he’s overrated. He’s sold by company as the man, the general/casual fan buys his shit and clearly somewhat likes him, and it all makes him very overrated. He can’t even come close to lacing up the rock, stone cold, DB, AJ Styles, CM Punk, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Shawn Michaels boots if you ask me.
If you turn Roman heel then maybe people will cheer him because he is more interesting. If that happens, then what's the point?
The point is that it’s the only thing that would make him interesting and better. His very early promos as a heel in NXT were interesting and believable. You take what he did there vs. now, well, there’s no comparison, it was much better. It would make a reigns a top heel, which is better than his shit show now.
So the answer isn't to turn him heel, but to make him more interesting.
By turning him heel, yes. Do you need to be handheld with everything? I can explain life to you as well if you want? Or how to take a shit?
I'm saying whether he is heel or face it don't matter with Roman cuz he is always going to get a mixed reaction. So just concentrate on making him an interesting character.

so having supporters who buy your stuff, even if they're almost in the minority at this point, is being overrated? Like, do you want him to have exactly 0 fans for you to go "yea that's fair" or something? Even Dana Brooke has fans and supporters who tweet her about how "underappreciated" she is and how she should be the next Raw Womens Champ.. there are always going to be people who like a wrestler no matter what anyone else says or thinks, but that doesn't make every wrestler who you think doesn't deserve to have supporters "overrated"
I'd say Reigns is neither over-nor underrated from the fans' perspective and probably should have been kept off of this topic for once, but you can't have a thread these days without reading his name 20 times I guess
They’re not in the minority though. Reigns apparently sells well and a lot, and the only guy who can keep up with him is AJ Styles. Thus, based on WWE’s handling of him and forcing him to the top no matter what as if he’s John Cena and truly special, is beyond overrated. The fans buying into this crap just because WWE wants you to like him and ushers him into every main event makes him overrated as he’s only selling Shit because WWE brainswashes you into thinking he’s amazing.
And, like I said, but you ignored, from strictly just our (more hardcore fans on these forums) input - being a good overall wrestler, I think he’s not that good. He’s not even close to being the whole package. Some people on these forums feel that he’s a great wrestler and underrated. I feel that he’s very overrated when it comes to be a wrestler. A great wrestler is someone who can wrestle, talk, sell, and has an overall believable persona and matching charisma. Roman can literally only wrestle, that’s it. He’s overrated. If all the above doesn’t make someone overrated, then you’re crazy.
I’ve attached the meaning of overrated for you if you’d like. The actual definition for overrated means, “have a higher opinion of something, someone than what’s deserved.” This explains Roman reigns from WWE’s perspective: they def have a higher opinion of him than what’s deserved. All the fans who contribute to him, love him, and guy his shit: they def have a higher opinion of him than what’s actually deserved.
