Cy Young.
511 wins—most in MLB history

316 losses—most in MLB history

815 starts—most in MLB history

749 complete games—most in MLB history

7,356 innings pitched—most in MLB history

I think you get it.

He owns a 2.63 career ERA with a 1.130 WHIP.

Now let me make a case for Tom Seaver aka Tom Terrific. His 311 wins only barely gets him a spot in the top 20 list of career victories and his total of 3,640 strikeouts is topped by five other pitchers, including one who has 2,000 more Ks to his name. This dude was dominating though, he was virtually untouchable for many years until he lost velocity on his stuff which made his breaking balls manageable due to the difference in speeds.

I'm a homer though of course, Tom Terrific was a met. Make a case for yours

IMO you need to separate the deadball and liveball eras. I honestly don't give a fuck about the deadball era, or any baseball before say 1980.

Of the pitchers I would have heard about extensively and better yet have seen throw a little bit in my life, I would have to go with Pedro.

If we're just going with the word "dominating" and not best overall, I'm going to have to go with Randy Johnson for the modern era. In his prime 5 years in a row of over 300 strikeouts, and many more years in the high 200s. As much of an asshole as he is, when the Big Unit was on the mound, he dominated hitters.

Seen pedro pitch when I lived in New York. Was at the tail end of his career. Was always a fan and in 1999 he had one of the best seasons of all time. Can't believe i forgot him.

Nolan Ryan, but was going to mention Pedro also. Same deal as hitters, so many options.

A lot easier to dominate as a closer than a starter though. Apples and oranges IMO

and dolph we will see because Aroldis Chapman is going to make that transition here soon. Not many have tried to do both.
