There is just a strong satisfaction i get out of beating superman up with subzero.
I'm an MK fan and I'll be on this as soon as it's out. Still haven't upgraded to current gen though I might this year, so I don't know what the consoles are capable of and if MK X can actually look and run like this. It's a cool trailer just to let me know it's coming but it's hard to decide on.
So I'll stick to my policy of only judging once raw, confirmed gameplay footage is out because cinematic launch trailers usually don't tell me much. Not that I need to judge really because I'll get it anyway, I just can't make up my mind about it after a single teaser. Apart from upgrades in graphics and hopefully in animation, there's basically no details about the game here at all.
I still have no idea how the story will turn out if Netherrealm continue the rebooted MK timeline. That means the game has to stand up on it's roster from MK4 through to... Deception? So all the obscure characters like Frost, Bo Rai Cho, Onaga, Shinnok, etc. could either be fleshed out in a way like never before and be totally revitalized (Frost especially has potential to be awesome), or they'll still be lame and they'll be exactly the reason the game won't be as interesting without the classic characters (hence the creators will NEVER let Subby and Scorpion go, even if they have to die and come back literally every single game). The Deadly Alliance between Quan Chi and Shang Tsung will be godlike.
But even if the story doesn't impress and the combat is still clunky, all they have to do is satisfy the MK fan in me with lots of little nods to the series and other small details and I'll be happy.
Maybe that just means cut scenes before fatalities? maybeThe Two Best Friends Podcast talked about the announcement, apparently the official press release used the word "cinematic" a lot to describe the gameplay. That worries me.

Gameplay footage unveiled at E3 today. Pretty much looks like Injustice: Gods Among Us, interactive environments, super moves, but Fatalities remain intact.
Saw a bunch of the after-E3 gameplay vids showing a couple of fatalities in full and a few of the new characters in action (Cassie Cage, Kotal Kahn, Kerra/Torr and the bug lady). I'm actually feeling more confident in this now despite the gameplay pretty much looking like Injustice.
Apparently MK10 is set 20 years after the events of the last game and the focus will be on introducing a boat load of all new characters for the rebooted timeline. I guess that means the huge glut of support characters killed off in the last game will remain dead (apart from Subby and Scorpion, Ed Boon will never let them go). That's a bold move but one that will breathe life back into the franchise and give it a new direction. Most of the old cast we didn't care much for anyway, there's not much left to do with them and we still have plenty of games with them on the roster. Sure I'll miss a few of them like Reptile and Kano (oh god please let Ermac continue), but at least now Mortal Kombat's story can actually keep going forward and do things it's never done before.
