I'm not trying to say violence = better sport. I'm not even saying football > rugby, it's just a cultural thing. I'm also not proud of the violence in American football.

I just find it hilarious when Europeans say "Football? lol, they wear pads. So soft"- even though I'm sure they are trolling most of the time

I understand and agree (and figure most of them are trolling at least a bit). Both sports are incredibly rough and brutal, but there is a definite lessening of the effort I put into a rugby tackle than into a football tackle because I knew I would feel the rugby hit (probably also because I was a good ten years older than the last time I'd played serious football and things just hurt more).
