Thinking everyone and their grandmothers knew the Sonnen wasn't retiring, now that his title ambitions are pretty much over, it's time to just give him Brazillians to fight. Wandy, Vitor and hell Machida. This guy is solely box office now, title contender? Those days are over. Randy Couture made a good living out of being that until he got Daniel San'd.

And Nelson getting title contention bouts are solely because the fat man is drawing eyeballs to watch him. Anyone thinking rankings mean anything are gullible. You want you two biggest names facing off for a big payday and will feed them soupcans until you can get it. Been this way ever since prize fighting was invented.

Sonnen should go back to MW, I don't like his chances at all at 205. All well and good claiming he's one of the best wrestlers in MMA but that's null and void when a guy is bigger and stronger than you. I'd fancy guys like Bader, Davis and Rashad to ragdoll him around much like Bones did. The Wandy fight is all risk, no reward for him.

Theres tons of guys he hasn't fought yet, Weidman, Jacare/Phillipou winner, Belcher, Palhares etc.

Just keep him away from Belfort, which is a stylistic nightmare for him.

Hell, give it a year and do a 'student vs teacher' thing with him vs Uriah Hall or Gastellum. (thats asking a LOT from the rookies though)

Problem with Sonnen at MW though is he's still a top MW, he still beats most of the division. He'd just keep knocking off contenders and after having already been finished by Silva twice theres very little chance of him ever getting another shot at Silva. Though of course there is the argument that if they cant beat Sonnen (or Okami) they dont deserve a shot at Anderson.

I believe Sonnen should be allowed do whatever the fuck he wants in the UFC. The dude's got my respect for wanting to fill in for the cancelled fight against Jon Jones after Henderson got injured.

Matt Brown vs. Thiago Alves added to the UFC on Fox Sports 1 show, Sonnen vs. Wanderlei is also heavily rumored to be signed as the main event for the card as well.
