Agreed. I don’t think you need to bury the talent, but they should probably do a favor on the way out. Like in my opinion, if I was Tony and I was lenient on the contract and I think when they got to the point where they promoted the match with Kenny Omega, and that was his last Defense before breaking Omega’s actual record, it will be at that point that I’ll be like OK either you’re staying or I’m gonna ask you to put in Omega over so he can retain his record.

This is where I was all but certain he re-signed.

I think we'll have a good idea on Wednesday. If they keep talking about how they destroyed MJF and bring up his name a lot he's all but guaranteed to still be under contract, whereas if they don't talk about MJF at all you can still have reason to think he isn't under contract.

Honestly the thing that surprised me with the beatdown is it wasn't a physical beatdown. Just a powerbomb, but the emotional beatdown of your best friend (the only person he has let in during his entire AEW career) being your worst enemy in disguise is enough to drive him away.

Yeah that's what I loved about the Cole being the devil concept from the start. MJF actually changing for the better but then losing the one friend he'd ever made that he thought was a true one was the most compelling story to me

I reckon it’s a work and he’s re-signed, and this is a way for him to take time off to heal while also keeping “the bidding war of 2024” thing going while he’s gone. It’s got people talking so that’s a plus already.

From what I was told, he is either going to have to rehab the shoulder, which is the main problem, or he may need surgery and just judging from how severe it was, he may need that surgery. And the surgery would put him out for quite a while. He is still debating which tact to take. I think it's probably the best thing is for him to have the surgery but that's a long time off.
