WWE officials contemplated months ago of putting The Miz back in the WWE Championship picture come January. That did not happen and he has not won a televised singles match since the December 5, 2011 edition of Raw. There are people within WWE who believe top officials are blaming him for the Survivor Series drawing a disappointing buy number. Teaming with R-Truth, he appeared in the main event against John Cena and The Rock.

The pay-per-view event, which featured The Rock’s first wrestling match in over seven years, is estimated to have garnered 260,000 buys worldwide. It was reported that of that figure, 160,000 pay-per-view purchases came from the United States.

The estimate compares to 244,000 buys in 2010 and 235,000 in 2009, which nearly got the show scrapped from the annual pay-per-view line-up.
If this is true this is beyond stupid. Just on the pure fact that if the show was a huge success in buys he nor Truth wouldn't have gotten a bit of credit and it would have all gone to Rock.

Why blame Miz, not like he's on the writing team. Probably should have actually had a build to Survivor Series and a reason for Rock and Cena to team up and make people want to watch.

They built Miz and Truth up to have a team lose to Cena/Rock so I doubt it would take this long for a report to come out with the only reason really backing it up is Miz has lost TV matches. During that time he was bragging about taking out both Truth and Morrison so it's not like he was losing TV time while he went on to headline TLC as it was.

Miz being blamed for the buyrate yet nowhere in the original article does it say why. Lazy reporting.

Was Miz the one who booked Cena to beat up Miz/Truth by himself twice? They were booked as afterthoughts. The title match was booked as an afterthought. The only thing that could reasonably have drawn in big viewers was the Rock's return.

Why isn't R-Truth being blamed? Or even Cena and The Rock for that matter. The PPV was meant to be Rock's big return to the ring and he should take some of the blame for buyrates.

WWE is being idiots. I mean really blaming Miz? The build toward the match was piss poor. The build towards the PPV was even poorer than that. I mean this is freakin Survivor Series. One of the original big 4 PPVs. They should have started some sort of build after SummerSlam towards it. But instead they waited, and waited, and waited until we reached near the end of October to start building towards it. Barely a month to build for this show. Not only that but it is in Madison Square... then on top of that... it is The Rock coming back to the ring to compete and that is what you put forward?

People don't care cause they don't have a reason to care. And really... this one did better than last year's and the year before. So my question also is... what numbers were they looking for? It outperformed the previous two years... but really... blame Miz? What about Cena? The golden boy of WWE. What about Rock? He is supposed to create a huge build just by showing up. What about Truth?

This is just idiotic if it is true.

Ridiculous.

Really there's nothing else that needs to be said, but as someone pointed out.. If the buys were good, all credit would go to the Rock. There was no build for the match aside from Cena squashing both Miz and Truth. Build up a match, don't just throw a ratings grabber in a match and expect a good outcome.

Damn, there's been a shitload of emphasis on ratings in 2012 if this is true. I can't remember a time people were getting pushed/de-pushed due to ratings.

The weird thing is, this isn't even the kind of thing the dirtsheets would make up, it's so out of left field.

That's kind of the reason why I don't believe this. Dirt sheets always come up with shit that comes out of nowhere during the road to Mania.

I'm not believing this but if it is true, I think they should blame it on the crappy build up for the match. Miz and R-Truth weren't really the problem.

If the report is true, I also think it's pathetic of them to blame Miz. Let's be honest, Miz isn't in Cena or Rock's level as being a home grown talent just yet. Rock and Cena have main evented countless WrestleMania's and many WWE or World Title reigns. So to place blame on the guy who is going to be the future of the company is a joke and the WWE should be ashamed of themselves. Miz has been booked like crap lately and I'm afraid he will be an after thought come WrestleMania and just be tossed into Money in the Bank. The blame here should go on the other two, Rock and Cena. Especially Rock since this was "his" moment to comeback to the ring.

I don't believe the initial report it is just a website trying to make an outlandish claim to drive traffic to their website.

The Miz didn't cause the low PPV buyrate. WWE not building anything other than that tag team match killed it. Plus WWE burying Miz and Truth in the weeks leading up to the PPV hurt it the most, Cena beating them on his own made the match pointless.
