the gay guy didn't die in the crash... the dude crashed the car after dumping the body and then told police where they could find the body...unless I'm reading it wrong...

Yes, this is a bigger deal because he was gay (and really because he was the FIRST gay mayoral candidate in Mississippi), but he was still a murdered mayoral candidate, that makes headlines no matter what.
