“Miguel Torres has been cut from the UFC and his career with us now is over,†said White “And then he said he hadn’t heard what happened to Forrest [Griffin, who drew fire for tweeting "Rape is the new missionary" last month]. Really? Where do you live? What business are you in? How do you not hear about these things? You should have paid more attention. It’s to the point now where, there’s going be times when things happen and mistakes are made. I cannot defend Miguel Torres. I cannot defend what he said. What he said makes no sense other than when he says, “It was a joke.†Well, I don’t think that’s a funny joke. I think it’s disturbing.

As a result of his tweet from yesterday, top ranked UFC bantamweight, and former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres has been cut from the UFC. Dana White made the announcement in an interview with SI.com earlier.

Yesterday, Torres sent out a Tweet that said “If a rape van was called a surprise van more women wouldn’t mind going for rides in them. Everyone likes surprises.†Unlike Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans, who also made public remarks that have upset some fans and some media, Torres was not given a pass for his comments

Fucking stupid thing to say but seems a bit of favouritism shown towards the higher profile fighters?

Well you know all that stuff thats going on at Penn state in the usa? where the assistant coach got arrested for molesting boys in the locker room well Phil davis was a wrestler at penn state and during the press conference Rashad said" i'm gonna grab you and hold you down harder than the dude from penn state did to those other dudes"

Take that back, this was the exact quote

"I guarantee you'll be the first one to take a shot," Evans said to Davis. "Guarantee. Because I'm going to put my hands on you worse than that dude did them other kids at Penn State."

Dana white said he was going to "punish" him but so far nothing.

I knew it was something to do with molestation, thanks.

He'll only get a slap on the wrist anyway because he wont want to screw up the possibility of a money fight between Jones.

Basically. i really don't expect anything to happen from it though, like you said he's not going to want to mess up his main event for a big show next month.

It is definitely favoritism. Forrest is a highly marketable guy... won the first TUF, put it on the map, people like him... so yea when he screws up well... he'll be aight. Then you have Rashad, yeah he screwed up but he is a top tier talent that is being primed for a future light heavyweight title shot so he isn't gonna get anykind of punishment. He is still gonna get his shot whenever he heals up.

But Torres, what he said was flat out stupid but since he isn't that recognizable... bye bye. Its dumb but its business.

Basically everything you said is the best way to sum this whole thing up. And i just read a report that there's heat on Dana white for not punishing Forrest, or Rashad so we'll see what happens.

This is just stupid, there shouldn't be any favoritism in the UFC. Forrest and Rashad can get away with rape tweets scotch free because they are high profile fighters but Miguel Torres can't. That just isn't right, he should've at least got a warning instead of getting fired while Rashad and Forrest are still saying stuff like that without any consequences.

Rashad didn't tweet it he said his comment in a live press conference, but yeah Dana hasn't actually said he wasn't going to "punish" Rashad yet. Just said it was a stupid comment from an inteligent guy and he'd need time to think about it.

Doesn't make any difference bro, tweet or comment.... it's not fair. Miguel should've at least been given a second chance and not a straight up fired. I like Rashad and Forrest but I still think they should be punished for their actions, something like a suspension. If Miguel gets fired then why not suspend them for a long time? Oh yeah because everyone loves them and they are big stars in the UFC. :side:

If there's such thing as karma, Rashad will lose on Saturday night.

Only thing i really see happening is Dana not giving him any bonus money from the fight, which also wouldn't matter because Rashad is a wealthy guy and doesn't need the money.
