I don't hate Killswitch Engage. Not the biggest fan of them either though. Not a band I'll actively seek out to listen to, but I think I have This Fire Burns, their cover of Holy Diver, and My Obsession so I don't mind when they come on my shuffle.

What do you think about their work without Messiah? IMO they have some good songs on future albums, but nothing compares to when he was in the band for me.

I agree. I don't dislike their later stuff, but if I want to listen to Candlemass I stick to their early stuff.
