Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible

This Monday, Capcom will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of 2 of its biggest franchises in Megaman X Street Fighter, an 8-bit sidescroller where you play as Megaman in an attempt to defeat the characters from Street Fighter instead of Dr. Wily's evil robots.

And it's free to download on your PC.

Any fans of the retro Megaman games?

As much as this and SF x Tekken are neat ideas, I hope every publisher crossing over their most popular franchises doesn't become the new thing, especially since Square Enix also seem to be jumping on board and tying their characters together if Hitman: Absolution is any indication. Its a fun novelty that works for fighting games, really.

@XPATCS, I will make sure to do a writeup about it after I have had a chance to play.

@Sensei, Capcom needed a way to test the waters with a new Megaman title, there has been alot of talk from fans about wanting to see a new Megaman title like the New Super Mario Bros., and atleast this way they dont have to worry about making any new bots until the test is finished. And Square was at the forefront of crossover titles with Erhgeiz.

Sorry for the double post, but I did make a promise of a review.

After nealry all week of the Capcom site being overloaded with people trying to download the game, I finally got it and have some things that should excite most Megaman fans.

First off, the standard keyboard configuration is horrible, confussing, and should just be ignored. If you happen to have any PC gamepads, or even a wired XBOX360 controller then all will be well.

The game stays true to Megaman, very simple controls(on the controller), yet difficult levels that potray characteristics of the boss. Chun-Li, Ryu, Blanka, Dhalsim, Rose, Rolento, C.Viper, & Urien make up your 8 stages, with M.Bison(or Akuma if you beat 2 levels without taking any damage) as your boss.

Everything looks & feels like you are playing a later release of the original Megaman franchise(when you got the ability to slide, charge shot, etc.) I highly recommend the game to any Megaman fans, you will love this game. Street Fighter fans might get some fun out it, you get a larger look at the characters stages, and seeing the characters in 8-bit sprites is comical, but dont expect some great fighting system, it is a 2D platformer afterall, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about playing it.

Since the game is free, and is a full Megaman experience, I cant say anything against it. The best way for me to rate this game is to give it a dollar amount I would have payed for this game. $10-$15, solid DLC game.
