There’s more money in faces chasing heels so it makes sense

Really? How'd that work for NWA with Flair or WCW with Hogan compared to Hogan's long title reigns and Austin's? I think I tend to prefer the face chasing heels and dominant heels more personally, but it has historically seemed like a bad business move for whatever reason.

Without crowds they're losing the biggest reason to have a babyface champion. Give the fans the shock of a title switch on free PPV.

Let Mox chase the monster heel until crowds comeback and then pop the first PPV with crowds something huge when he gets the throne back.

I think this is solid logic though, booking with no fans is really a whole new dynamic :lol

The 83 weeks WCW kicked WWF's ass was when Hollywood was the heel champion and Sting and Lex Luger chased.

As for Austin, his reigns were surprisingly short. He was chasing a good chunk of his time on top.

Same thing with Rock in 2000. Rock was the biggest baby in 2000, but Triple H dominated the time as champion.

Yeah Hogan probably wasn't the best comparison, nWo also moved a ton of merch regardless of alignment so I'll take that one back. And Austin was the champion for almost all of '98, but other than that you're right. I kinda overrate that year in terms of the Attitude Era I think.

I think the fault comes when the babyfaces never have a satisfying victory, or they're reign sucks afterwards bc the companies don't know what to do once they're finally champion more so than the chase itself as I think about it more.

He lost the belt I want to say in September? Then didn't have it again until April of 1999 and then lost it again in May? Etc.

WWE actually went without a champion after Austin was stripped until Survivor Series when Rock became the Corporate Champion.

Booking babyfaces can be hard so I agree there. WCW certainly had no idea what to do once Sting got it.

Sting in 97 is a prime example of your last point

He lost it in June, won it back the next night then lost it again in August. Belt was vacant then til Rock won it

Pretty much what I was saying, but I forgot he also lost it to Kane.

Austin went a good chunk of the Attitude Era without the belt. Most people don't realize that.

Rock, Trips, Foley, Taker all got good runs with it.

Well, if that is the case and we wanna do the whole chase thing. It'd have to be a major screwy finish for it to matter and for people to not get annoyed with the massive push of this guy going in. Personally speaking that is.

Nah Smark was right, it was the very end of September lol belt was then vacated for a month and a half and he didn't win it again til Mania.

Fun fact since I'm looking this up and then we can get back on topic for Cage/Mox :lol but Austin actually held the title more in 01 than 99 and 98 (obviously didn't have a reign in 2000). 98 he had it for about 180 days so half the year-ish, 99 was only a little over a hundred days between his two reigns (though they were the longest two reigns of the year, no one else got 50 days with a single reign and his were both around 55) but then in 01 he held it for like 230 days between his two reigns. And that's the history of Austin's title reigns from a bored Chris in a thread where it's not relevant :TI:

I am surprised they are doing this so early.

Id have had Cage feud with Allin and eventually beat him with Allin bumping like crazy to really put over the machine.

Then maybe later in the year or when audiences are back, he cashes in his chip for that upcoming PPV

I’m glad it isn’t like that. I don’t want them doing the cash in thing. People already bitch enough saying they do this or that from WWE. So I’m glad they did something different and it was basically a ladder match number 1 contender match.

TNA already ripped off MITB with Feast or Fired so it would be old news at this point.

I'm just glad the match was different. A royal rumble ladder match is unique I think.

I've long said I don't mind when concepts I like are stolen so it wouldn't really bother me either way :lol I'm more critical if I feel the newer concept is worse than the one it's similar too bc I'm like "bruh just steal it" :TI: New concepts that I like are extremely refreshing though, so I don't mind trying a lot of stuff bc you never know when you'll have one that sticks. Royal Rumble, WarGames, MITB, Elimination Chamber all became huge things and those are the ones I don't really mind copied bc they're so ingrained in wrestling to me that I love other companies having takes on them.
