to add on to your first point:

why would you willingly give more ammo to your competition while they are on the rise and debuting new folks every week? Why would you want to help them maintain momentum? That's not good business
It wouldn’t be. This is like when Vince gave AEW a hundred wrestlers after they just beat NXT.

AEW right or wrong is seen as being in a slump and Triple H’s WWE is getting more and more positive feedback. Now would be the worst time.

What Tony needs to do is right the ship. Get talent back to where they wanted to be there so when those deals are up, some might actually stay.

Generally speaking a talent is only benched and frozen in their deal if they’re refusing to work in the first place. That might not be every case, but it’s generally the case. So it still stems from talent thinking they should be allowed to breach deals.

I think it's different depending on the talent. Roddy and Bivens for instant asked for their release multiple times but stayed prominent on screen in NXT. Ali, Brodie not so much. Ali stopped even being brought to TV for Main Event tapings

I think the only person i wanna see out of WWE rn whether he enjoys his paycheck or not is Drew Gulak. When tf has he even wrestled a match longer than 5 minutes within the past two years :sadpanda
Yeah. Him in Impact I bet be good for him.’

I think that could be the backfire for WWE. This may just motivate TK and AEW to be better and book better. Which imo last few shows have kicked ass so it might be working. Seems like the leaders backstage took control too on the talent side

It's kind of hilariously hypocritical... I don't think you're good enough to be used on my tv show but I think you're good enough that I don't want my competition to have you.

:lol

Like the real equivalent would be your Joey Janela and your Marko Stunt who Tony also stopped bringing to TV tapings and weren't used at all but the difference there is both could work pretty much whatever indies they wanted on top of getting an AEW paycheck for doing nothing until their contract was over

If these dudes had asked for their releases (which both confirmed they didn't), I'd have been critical too....maybe cause that's some hindsight still but I can't see how I would have been able to defend it lmao

Yeah I'd have been confused a.f and been critical as well. I don't think they'd have denied those however, and I think both Joey and Marco were more than happy to get the bag until the last day.

Which is funny cause Janela comes off so salty about being left out in AEW. But it’s like How many times can you shit the bed when they put you out there?

The most curious thing to me is Brian Cage never getting booked and not asking for his release. so weird lol

I think he's cooled off on that take quite a bit thankfully

And he was even shocked when he got the extension! Though that is puzzling to me. Like, you can’t throw him on dark, rampage… nothing?

He actually said he was doing a lot of that just for attention and HEAT cause he knew insulting AEW would work the smarks lol he said they were real complaints though, just overexaggerated and that he thinks the communication has improved anyway since

That’s honestly a pretty strong win-win in my opinion. You still get to take as many bookings as you want and you get paid by a company that’s not using you? The only thing they can’t do is go to the WWE or impact which is their main competitors.

makes sense.

I originally thought it made sense if he was promised ROH but the longer that goes without consistent booking, I'm surprised he's seemingly complacent
