I thought both Rumble matches were great, I enjoyed men’s more than women’s but the latter was fun for what it was. The finales for both matches were perfect with Cody and Gunther in the men’s, and Asuka, Morgan, and Ripley in the women’s.
Main event was great and the post match stuff was excellent. Absolutely phenomenal work from all parties, I could not take my eyes off the screen the entire time.
Pretty much my thoughts on the PPV. Couldn't stay awake for it and kinda glad I didn't given how long it ran, managed to avoid all the spoilers though.
Some random thoughts:
Absolutely loved how the Rumble matches felt like they had a consistent purpose throughout and it wasn't just like a giant clusterfuck spotfest.
Dominik was fucking great, what he's turned into these past few months has been incredible. Regarding him killing Rey backstage, dunno if it was just me or not but I feel like it would have been better if the camera cut to the back with him beating the shit out of Rey for a couple of seconds at least. The way Rey's music hit and nothing happened until Dominik came out with the mask was a little bit ehhhh. Him struggling to rip the mask though
The pop for the stare off between GUNTHER & Lesnar
Speaking of Lesnar, I loved the shit that went down between him and Bobby. Simple yet shocking eliminations and keeps their shit going without them having to stay in the Rumble and rack up eliminations.
Bit disappointed with the Cody / Seth eventual face off. Was kinda hoping Seth would be the only one stood up when he entered and they immediately went into the staredown. Even though they had their stuff together later on, I guess they didn't wanna make Seth look overly heely given how insanely over he is as a babyface right now?
Seth being eliminated by Logan was all kinds of confusing, not sure I get that unless that's the Mania matchup for both?
It felt like both Rumble matches, the ring filled up nicely and the eliminations were at a steady pace which I really like. I actually hate when it fills up and then someone comes in and like 10 people are eliminated in a minute or two.
If it's only for a Rumble appearance then I can let it slide but fuck that human sack of shite Nia Jaxx. At least she didn't get no rub in that match, shame she didn't blow out her knees on the way back with all that walking. Can't tell if it was a semi-shoot from Cole or not when he mentioned the locker room not liking her (or something along those lines) when they teamed up to throw her out.
Roxanne got a nice rub but i'll be honest, I thought there were lots of parts tonight on commentary where they were truly fucking awful. I really wasn't a fan of Pat saying multiple times throughout the night, "Yeah I haven't been watching while i've been away so i've got no clue what happened with X or who Y is" There was something with Indi aswell where Cole was basically acting like he didn't know who she was then said something along the lines of "Do you think even Booker T knows who she is"
That pop for Asuka
Damage CTRL looked good, Becky got some revenge on them though it felt like she wasn't in that match long at all.
Loved the ending with Rhea, Asuka & Liv. I've been saying for ages I wanted Rhea to win it and knew she would but I won't lie and say I didn't bite on the finish. Great little sequence between the three of them.
The aftermath of the main event was a fucking masterpiece. That fucking pop when Sami nailed Roman was something else. That might have been one of the very few times I would have liked seeing a bit of blood though it didn't take anything away from the angle by it not being there.
