I'm not sure how you are confused. Punk cut promos on Austin 2012, Austin cut promos back on Twitter, and even mad a video where he talked about the promos, then WWE did this 30-minute sit-down interview with Austin, JR and Punk and the idea of Austin and Punk wrestling was heavily teased throughout the whole thing. WWE had the idea of Punk/Austin at 29, and Austin said he was healthy enough to do it, but he wanted a full 6 months commitment in advance to agree to do it, but Vince's pension for changing his mind on Mania cards wouldn't commit 6 months out.

lol he could have just trained on his own for a few months. I don’t know why he needed verbal confirmation.

Beats me, but Austin wanted it.

I feel where Austin's coming from. He prolly had other shit to do. Wasn't trying to commit his time to a comeback if Vince was just gonna pull some bullshit a month before Mania.

His health, his call. No reason Vince couldn't say, yeah, let's do it at SummerSlam, which is about the point Austin would've wanted it and WWE already had the Rock match at the Rumble planned so it's not like they didn't know how to book a big match like that in advance. Austin even did an interview after 29 and repeated he'd do it at 30 with the same need for 6 months commitment and WWE never reached out.

Which he most likely would have, based on how things went.

I don’t think it was that black and white but I’m sure it was something like that.

Pretty solid show, highlights for me was New Day w/ their GoW gear vs Street Profits, Asuka vs Sasha, Lana being the sole survivor (I seriously loved that), and the main event.

This was a damn good show. Every match delivered. Roman vs Drew and Street Profits vs. New Day were definitely the best matches of the night but every other match was fire too. Lana being the sole survivor via countout was hilarious and perfect.

Of course the main story here though is Undertaker’s retirement and it was done perfectly.

The story of that match seemed to lend itself naturally for a Lana underdog win. Not sure I buy her as a babyface, but they might prove me wrong.

Have a few matches to catch up with but from what I've seen its looking a pretty medicore PPV. The Lashley match was total filler. Didn't really care for either guy. Also as a causal following of modern WWE I have no idea who the face was supposed to be. My guess is both? :hmm: Not so keen on all the tweeners on this show. The New Day match felt the same.

The Women's Title was the pick from what I've seen but even that could have been better.

Nah, both heels. New Day and Street Profits were both faces but New Day was def working heel in that one.

As for Taker's retirement? My guess is it is legit bar maybe the odd one off match. And it should be. He has nothing else to achieve. Taker's had the perfect career and will go down as a all time great. Its a great career also because of what a Pro he was in and out of the ring, and a great locker room leader. That's one black mark on the likes of Austin and HBK they weren't always team players. Taker's body needs a rest. Could see him coming back as a figurehead at some point.
