Smackdown was #2 on cable in primetime in P18-49. The Mayo Bowl game on ESPN, Minnesota vs. Virginia Tech, was #1 with a 0.65 P18-49 rating and 3,384,000 viewers. College basketball on Fox, with Michigan State vs. Ohio State averaged a 0.20 P18-49 rating and 1,135,000 viewers, in Smackdown’s former slot.

So I finally decided to check out Netflix with my VPN on and I have the SmackDown vault just like the US viewers have the raw vault and there’s a live SmackDown section just like US has the live raw one so any Friday night when I’m free I might be able to watch start watching some live SmackDown’s.

I’m gonna start by watching this show. Feels like the right place to begin.

I’m watching this recap of the Kevin Owens and Nick Aldis ultimatum over giving back the winged-eagle championship and this is just Amazing storytelling.

You have such a layered heel in Kevin Owens, who is wronged by poor officiating and beaten by crossroads on the chair, but he’s not innocent either because he brought that chair into the ring and he shouldn’t be stealing the belt, but my man just wants another shot.

Cody comes out and he’s like this isn’t on you, Nick, I’m the champion. I got to resolve this so give me Kevin, give me no referee, put the winded eagle and my belt above the ring, ladder match, let’s fucking do it. Perfection.

In that one recap, and I didn’t even watch the full segment, I am already all in on the storyline when I didn’t get any of the other build.

The ECW and 2000 WCW blue ring mats were a little better to my eyes, but I do still like the blue mat for this new era of SmackDown. It gives smackdown its own unique flavor just like raw has the black one.
