I think the argument of no surprises is a bad one. Sure, the fun about the Royal Rumble is that anyone can enter, but it's not like no surprises makes the match worse. That's the main point I've seen besides the blandness

if people worked themselves into a shoot expecting Okada and Mercedes they dumb. Women had lots of surprises. Men seemed fine too. Stories over cheap pops is one thing I like about non Vince booking
