Directed By: Tom Hooper

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway

Plot Summary: In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's daughter, Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever.

This is a remake of a film that's been remade a thousand times, the most recent one being in '98 starring Liam Neeson. I'm a fan of most of the actors involved in this, so I'll probably see it, plus it's got a lot of praise from critics. What do you guys think?

Saw a trailer on I believe 60 Minutes it was over the weekend, even though it's a remake I'd probably go see it. Looks to be good.

I am definitely going to be seeing this. I have seen the stage version, watched it for French at school, and it is a great story. The cast is so strong, Hugh Jackman is perfect for a role like this and Amanda Seyfried and Anne Hathaway have surprisingly good voices. Trailer looks good so I have high hopes that this will be a good movie.

Yeah, the cast is the main reason I'm looking forward to this since I'm not that familiar with the story. I've always like Jackman and Crowe, and Hathaway won me over in The Dark Knight Rises. Indifferent with Seyfried, don't really have much of an opinion on her.

I haven't really seen anything with Crowe in it for quite some time, I am a fan mainly because he is Australian and because of Gladiator and I hope this can be a bit of a boost for him. Seyfried is a bit of a stunner and can actually sing so she should do well in this movie.

It does have a lot to live up to though as the stage version is a huge success and an award winner, been seen by more than 60 million people and has been running for nearly three decades.

He was pretty good in Robin Hood.

I think she is a good comic actress as proven in Mean Girls and Jennifer's Body, but she really does need a new agent lol.

This should be good what with the cast and director, also don't think there has been a film version which really stands out, so it seems a pretty relivent up dating. Love the stage version.

Reviews of this have been very positive so far, definitely look forward to seeing it sometime. Hope it isn't over-hyped.

Saw this movie with my family on christmas. They hated it and walked out 45 minutes into it... but I stayed and did like it a lot. It was hard to get into at first because of their bitching and moaning about the movie being entirely in song... but it was a musical, and this is what I expected of it. The film was powerful, full of life from Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathway's emotional portrayals. It was entirely live action signing, nothing recorded in the studio which added the quality of realism, being able to connect with the actors in all their (few) faults. The film was long, over 2 hours and there was some pacing issues... but the main thing I got from this film was redemption and forgiveness. The 19 year battle between Jalvert and Jean Valjean made the film for me, but the love stories intertwined were great as well.

If you are a fan of musicals, of the actors and beautiful cinematography... I urge you to see this. If you are a prepubescent high schooler with a short attention span, go see the Guilt Trip or something.

One movie I'll be avoiding. Not a fan of the cast at all...and its a musical, kill me now. Thankfully the missus isn't a musical fan so its one movie she wont drag me along too.

Saw the trailer today at the cinema and it looks visually eyecatching with some great make up design, Hathaway looks very transformed. The trailer didn't give too much away, but it should be good. Tom Hooper is a good directer, found the Kings Speech overrated, but thought he did a great job with the Damned Untied.
