Save for his terrible Dropkicks and Ranas, I wouldn't say Cena is a bad worker at all. He has had many top-notch matches throughout his career for us to say he's bad. He may be limited, but it's a fact that when he's given the chance to go out there and put on a great match he does so. And on the mic, well, it's funny, because he has the ability to cut a good promo, he's done some. But I don't know if this is what Vince tells him to do or what, but most of the time he's out there showing crappy photoshops of his opponents/burying them/telling awful jokes 9-year-olds would laugh at. So I wouldn't put all of Cena's bad work on him, as he's able to be entertaining, but on what they give the dude to do.

Cena isn't bad, but he is far from great. I don't agree with people who think he is the worst thing in wrestling history, but you've gotta admit there are dozens upon dozens upon dozens of wrestlers over the past decade+ who could have done just as much if not more than Cena if they had WWE backing them and sucking them off as much as Cena does.

Yes, I agree. He has wrestled a few great matches and can cut a good promo, I wouldn't rank him in the greatest of all time list as far as talent goes but putting him in the same ranks as Khali (and Chavo lol) is too much.

Hogan was not that good was he though lads. Too much style not enugh substance.Just entertannied the less smart audience if you ask me.

Comparing Cena and Hogan to Orton, is like comparing the Backstreet Boys to NIN

Never said you did say he was unskilled, simply asking for clarification on your post.

I'm proud of the people who responded and didn't mention Hogan. "smarks" today are too obsessed with workrate and want to knock Hogan down to size by shitting on him. It is really annoying.

I guess the main Hogan hater isn't here anymore thank god. (Crayo)

As much as I hate the guy, it takes talent to be practically immobile and execute a face turn that made no sense at all in front of an old-school Philadelphia ECW crowd... and have the whole building on your feet and eating out of the palm of your hand. The dude's the best ever at crowd control and was an incredible draw. Nobody, not even Crayo, can deny Hogan had his specific talents.

Thank god no one has seriously mentioned Hogan. Anyone who thinks he had little talent or skill doesn't "get" what wrestling is about. Hogan had the body of an Adonis and more charisma in his pinkie than most wrestlers in history have had in their entire bodies. Plus, he was an absolute master of psychology, which is a huge part of mastering the "art" of pro wrestling. No one other than The Rock could control a crowd in the palm of their hands like Hogan could, and they still can't.

lol @ Aids mentioning Bob Holly. What did he ever accomplish? He was employed for so long because he was a reliable body who could make people look good in the ring (he was a pretty sound worker and had arguably the greatest dropkick in the business other than Randy Orton), but it's not like he was ever used in any significant angle 99.9% of the time.

Saturday Nights Main Event was like SummerSlam before and after SummerSlam was invented. It was huge and it had WrestleMania caliber matches on the show. Hogan vs Andre drew 38 Million viewers back in 1987. The most watched wrestling episode in history.

33 million people, not 38. And it was early 1988, not '87. The Hogan screw job and the subsequent vacating of the WWF Championship is what set up the huge tournament for Wrestlemania 4. :sandow:

Hogan was fucking fantastic. Gave people what they wanted no matter what it was.

His Japan run showcased that he could bring it outside of the formulaic WWE style well enough. He was never going to be Benoit but the dude could grapple competently.

One of my favorite old matches is Hansen vs Hogan in Japan, just beating the shit out of each other. Basically trying to bust each other open hardstyle.

Honestly? Undertaker was very fortunate in his first decade or so, he got some fantastic gimmicks to cover his inability to cut a convincing promo and his ring work was pretty poor in the early days. He picked up on the mic around the ministry days but only got to a good stage around the Big Evil days imo. His ring work took a few years later to get to a good then fantastic stage later on.

Nope.. just surprised no-one mentioned Hogan.. didn't say anything about him myself.

Did he have mic skills? Yes. Did he draw? Yes. In ring skills? Not so much.

But wrestling isn't always about in-ring skills because most marks could give a shit either way... he was the WWF meal ticket for years.. that can never be denied.
He had a shit ton a wrestling skill but rather he was a brawler and grappler than a technician. WWE watered him down (Like usual) and he didn't showcase half the stuff he used to do in the AWA and in Japan. If I rated his in ring skills based off of what I saw of him in Japan and sometimes in the AWA he'd probably be a 7/10 for an average to good in ring wrestler.

Hulk aint got shit on Sandow.
Comparing an 80's wrestler to a 2000's wrestler is like comparing a 7 year olds endurance to a 30 year olds. Back in the 80's grapple style and brawling style wrestling was big, that's why Vader and Hansen got pretty popular in Japan and later in the US by the early 90's. Today chain grapple and technical wrestling as well as high flying are really popular, stuff barley anyone did in North American back in the 80's. That's why when Jushin Liger, Brian Pillman, Hart Family, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit and all these other lightweights/"smaller guys" did all those styles of wrestling they became really popular.
