Steve Austin vs. Jake Roberts. KOTR '96 Finals. Stone Cold thoroughly dominates Roberts, who injured his ribs in his semi-final match against Vader. Austin was methodical, zeroing in Jake's rib with double-axe handles off the second turnbuckle and an elbowdrop. President Gorilla Monsoon enters the ring and asks Jake if he wants to stop the match. He answers No. Jake gets little offense going before Austin puts him away with a Stunner.

When Austin walked to the coronation, he didn't wear the crown and cape which previous winners Bret and Owen Hart did. He challenged the winner of the HBK-Bulldog World title match and headed back to the dressing room. He was a heel but there were a number of fans cheering for him.

Al Snow vs. (C) Hardcore Holly for the Hardcore title. Backlash '99. Holly takes his title and smashes it against Snow's head early in the match. hoping for a quick pin. Holly smashes a jug of water on Snow's head. Snow with a hard scoop slam on Holly at ringside and follows it up with a moonsault. Snow beats Holly with a hockey stick numerous times. They duke it out in the shipping area. Snow hoses Holly down with a gardening hose. As they fight outside of the arena, Snow slams Holly's head against a Ryder truck.

It didn't feel spontaneous. The action felt heavily scripted. "At two minutes into the match, we brawl in the bleachers. Then, we take the fight to the shipping area."

Ace with a hammerlock on Flash. Flash surprises him with a crucifix pin. Flash cinches on a hammerlock of his own. Austin counters with a fireman's carry and a single-leg. It's a technical match so far, with a slight edge going to Ace.

Subculture lifts up Ace for a double Falcon Arrow. Mark Andrews with a Northern Lights suplex on Ace. Andrews grabs Austin's left ankle, drags him to Flash Morgan's corner, to allow Flash to elbow-drop Ace's lower back. Subculture is taking turns beating up a weary Ace, who's been in the ring for his team for much of the match.

Bey does a brainbuster on Andrews. Austin with a crescent kick to Andrews' chin. Bey tries to go for a bridge but Andrews sits on Bey's face and hooks his right leg for the win. Good main event for this week's Impact. Although The Rascalz tried to interfere, their influence was minimal.
