ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Quarterfinals: Dragon Soldier B vs. Matt Sydal

Dragon Soldier B is Kendo Ka Shin under a mask. He has no business in the tournament, but New Japan spank inserted him in because he's their homey. That would be the big reason this tournament wound up being disappointing. Second reason: Ka Shin coincidentally decided that he didn't have to work for a living. Sydal hits a dropkick sending DSB out of the ring. He gets back in the ring and asks for a handshake and then insults Sydal. Sydal grabs an armbar but DSB kicks out. Nulty makes some ridiculously stupid college football reference as DSB grabs a headlock. Sydal gets a leglock but DSB reverses to his own. Sydal gets to the ropes. DSB keeps stomping the ankle and puts on a surfboard stretch. He turns it into a camel clutch but Sydal reverses to a toehold. DSB reverses to an armbar but gets hit with a hurricanrana. He bails to the floor and Sydal hits a baseball slide. He scales the ropes and moonsaults onto DSB on the floor. Back in the ring Sydal hits a bodyslam for 2. He sets DSB on the top and hits a hurricanrana. He hits a springboard corkscrew moonsault for 2. He sets DSB back on the top but his hurricanrana is blocked. DSB gets a victory role while holding the ropes for the win. I don't really have much to add here. *

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Quarterfinals: Black Tiger vs. Alex Shelley

This Black Tiger is Rocky Romero, carrying on the tradition most-famously used by Eddyie Guerrero early in his career. I like how the mask allows Romero to wrestle without cheating and interference from the Rottweilers. It worked at Manhattan Mayhem, so I'm interested to see his debut with it. Tiger gets a head scissor takedown for 1 so Shelley sweeps his legs for 1. Tiger gets a takedown for 1. He hits a monkey flip but gets caught in a pendulum hold. Shelley hangs him up on the bottom rope and he bails. Shelley rolls him back in the ring and hits a legdrop for 2. He hits a side Russian legsweep and a roll up for 2. They trade forearms and Tiger catches Shelley's leg on a leapfrog attempt. Tiger kicks Shelley's back and Shelley returns the favor. Tiger gets a cross arm breaker but Shelley makes the ropes. Tiger grabs an octopus stretch and rolls him up for 2. Shelley grabs his own octopus stretch but Tiger gets a takedown to escape. He puts on a side surfboard but Shelley makes the ropes. Tiger hits a kneedrop for 2. He puts on a surfboard stretch Shelley hits a dragonscrew and an enziguiri. He hits a double knee strike in the corner and a kneedrop from the top for 2. He hits a superkick for 2. He goes for the 2k1 bomb but Tiger reverses to a Tiger suplex for the win. It seemed a little rushed and lacking in focus, but what was there was good. **1/2

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Quarterfinals: James Gibson vs. Roderick Strong

This match actually works out for ROH's storylines, as Gibson is getting a title shot on the next show and Strong can simultaneously soften him up for Aries and advance in the tournament. Gibson goes to the mat right away and puts on a front facelock. He hits a backdrop and puts on a wristlock. He gets a single leg takedown for 1. He gets a drop toehold and puts on a half nelson but Strong reverses to a leglock. Gibson makes the ropes. Strong hits a suplex but Gibson comes back with a shoulder block sending Strong out of the ring. He follows him out with a suicide dive. Back in the ring they trade forearms. Gibson dropkicks the knee but Strong comes back with a backbreaker. Gibson bails and Strong follows him out. He tosses him to the guardrail and presses a chair into his back. He thrusts his back against the post 3 times and rolls him back in the ring and gets a 2 count. Gibson goes for a bodyslam but his back gives out and he's pinned for 2. Strong hits a back suplex for 2. He hits a double underhook suplex and hits the chinlock. Gibson fights out but eats a dropkick. It gets 2 for Strong. He puts on a camel clutch but Gibson powers out. Strong puts on a surfboard stretch but Gibson reverses to a back suplex. He hits a neckbreaker and a knee lift. He hits a brainbuster for 2. He sets Strong on the top and hits a hurricanrana for 2. He goes for the tiger driver but Strong catapults him to the turnbuckle. Gibson tries to rebound with a crossbody but gets caught. Strong hits a backbreaker, tosses Gibson to the turnbuckle and hits a bit clothesline for 2. He hits his rib breaker and a big kick to the face for 2. Gibson comes back with a DDT and puts on the Trailer Hitch but Strong powers out. He puts on the Lion tamer but Gibson reverses to a roll up win. Gibson has to be helped to the back because of the injures sustained here. And the flash pin works really well here as it puts Strong over as being a threat. ***1/2

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - No DQ: The Second City Saints (w/Davey Andrews) vs. Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie (w/Prince Nana & the Embassy)

Punk has said he wants to disfigure Jimmy Rave, so you know this will be intense. Nana humiliates Jade by making her act as a footstool so Rave can get in the ring. Rave and Cabana fight in the ring as Punk and Eddie fight on the floor. Cabana gets a 2 count on Rave. Rave blocks a blind charge as Jimmy Bower tells us that John Walters quit wrestling to become a governor in Ghana, West Africa. Punk finally gets in the ring but Oman Tortuga stops him from hitting Rave. Punk nails him with a clothesline but Eddie cuts him off from getting to Rave. Eddie messes up a few spots, being blind and all, and Punk looks frustrated. Rave goes for a sunset flip on Punk but he blocks and punches away. Eddie and Oman cut him off. Davey Andrews gets in the ring and takes it to Oman. Cabana comes in and everyone fights to the floor. Punk and Rave fight into the crowd where Punk hits a hip toss onto a bunch of chairs. Eddie and Cabana fight into the crowd. I spot Jake on camera as Punk throws a trash can at Eddie and Rave. Punk and Rave brawl up to the green seats where Rave takes over. A fan holds a chair for Cabana to ram Eddie's face into. Punk and Rave fight onto a stage where Punk hits a snap suplex. Rave blocks a second one and hits a Russian legsweep. They brawl back to ringside where Punk and Cabana take over. Punk and Rave end up back in the ring. Rave calls for a second rope Rave Clash but Punk blocks and hits a superplex. Oman goes to interfere but Andrews spears him out of the ring. Everyone brawls on the floor so Cabana hits an Asai moonsault onto them. Kruel and Cabana brawl to the back. Punk hits Rave with a clothesline and a chokeslam. He knocks Eddie off the apron and plants Rave. He hits the Shining Wizard for 2. He puts on the Anaconda Vice but Jade pulls him off and slaps him. He tries to piledrive her but Nana comes in and levels him with the aerosol can. Rave covers and gets the win. Punk trying to avenge the Rave Clash on Tracy by hitting one on Jade. After the match Nana reveals that the can was really a steel pipe wrapped in tape. Rave pulls a cheese grater out of his ring jacket. Eddie holds Punk down as Rave starts scraping at the straight edge tattoo on Punk's stomach with the grater. Nana screams about Punk getting disfigured after threatening to disfigure Rave. **

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Semi-Finals: Dragon Soldier B vs. James Gibson (w/Spanky)

New Japan's Dave Marquez comes out and announces Gibson can't go, so Dragon Soldier B is moving on by forfeit. Of course, Gibson won't let that happen, so he comes out and hobbles his way through a match while ROH cuts to a Punk promo vowing revenge on Rave. Jamie hits a guillotine legdrop but hurts his own back again. DSB takes him up top and delivers a superplex. The fans boo the hell out of the match as Jimmy Bower suddenly turns into Michael Cole screaming "just let it be over." DSB applies a Gory Stretch, but Gibson refuses to submit, so Spanky has to thrown in his shirt to save Gibson's health. This was barely a match, and the promo during it shows that ROH felt the same way. 1/4*

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Semi-Finals: Bryan Danielson vs. Black Tiger

Tiger slaps and kicks Danielson down in the corner to start. He goes for a Mexican surfboard but Danielson powers out and kicks away. He knocks Tiger down with a kick and puts on the Mexican surfboard. He turns it into a dragon clutch but Tiger goes to the eyes. Danielson hits a bodyslam and a sick kick to the back. He does it again but Tiger hurricanranas him out of the ring. He hits a springboard dive onto Danielson on the floor. Back in the ring Tiger gets a kneedrop for 2. He chokes Danielson out in the corner and hits a suplex for 2. He goes for the octopus stretch but Danielson blocks with his hand. Danielson stretches his arms but Tiger reverses to the Rings of Saturn. Danielson makes the ropes. Tiger dumps him and tosses him into the guardrail. Back in the ring he gets 2. He goes for the tiger suplex but settles for an armdrag. Danielson catches him with an inverted suplex and a neck wrench suplex for 2. He pulls at the mask, which makes no sense given his character. He hits a slingshot suplex for 2. He puts on a camel clutch in the ropes but has to break. He blocks a sunset flip and hits a butt splash for 2. He puts on the Cow Killer but Tiger makes the ropes. He hits the chinlock and pulls it way back. Tiger reverses to a pin fall for 2. He hits a springboard dropkick for 2. He blocks a dragon screw and gets a roll up for 2. He hits a bodyslam and goes to the top. Danielson crotches him and hits a superplex. He climbs the ropes and hits the diving headbutt for 2. Tiger blocks a dragon suplex and they trade kicks. Danielson hits a roaring elbow for 2. He goes for the Regal-plex but Tiger reverses and hits the tiger suplex for the win. The match was fine, but seeing both Gibson and Danielson eliminated really deflated the crowd and pretty much killed the tournament dead. **3/4

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Tag Team Scramble: Dunn & Marcos vs. Azrieal & Dixie vs. Lacey's Angels (w/Lacey) vs. Jack Evans & Roderick Strong

This is the debut of the real Lacey instead of the slutty raver chick she was playing. Shw reminds me of a young Stephanie McMahon. Strong and Marcos start. Strong wins a shoving contest. Marcos hits a hurricanrana and a dropkick. They go out of the ring where Strong tosses Marcos around. Dixie and Dunn come in. Dunn gets a roll up for 2. Dixie comes back with a tornado DDT. Dunn bails and Dixie somersaults onto him. Izzy and Azrieal come in and Izzy hits a hurricanrana. They block a ton of offense from one another until Azrieal hits a faceplant. Izzy gets another hurricanrana but Azrieal comes back with an octopus stretch. He hurricanranas Izzy out but Deranged comes in with a dropkick. Azrieal bails and Evans comes in. They block each other's offense as Allison Danger takes notes on the floor. Deranged ends up on the floor so Evans hits the Space Flying Tiger Driver onto everyone. Strong and Dixie get in the ring. Dixie hits a discus forearm but Strong blocks a hurricanrana and hits a backbreaker. Azrieal and Evans come in and brawl. Strong press slams Evans onto Azrieal. They hit the awesome-sault onto Dixie and Azrieal. Dunn and Marcos come in and double-team Evans. They hit the double senton for 2. Izzy hits the Standing Sliced Bread on Dunn and Marcos simultaneously. Lacey's Angels hit a double-team dropkick and a double-team Code Red on Marcos. Evans comes in with a reverse hurricanrana on Izzy, kicking off a string of guys hitting their finishers and then getting taken out by one. Dixie hits a neckbreaker on Izzy and he and Azrieal hit a double-team double stomp for 2. Strong and Evans hit a double-team corkscrew on Dixie. Strong puts on a sick Lion tamer for the win. Roddy looking like a BEAST again, that's about it. **

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Vacant ROH Tag Team Titles: BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs vs. Samoa Joe & Jay Lethal

A car accident ended Dan Maff's wrestling career and brought about a need for this match to decide new ROH tag team champions. Whitmer and Jacobs are the underdogs, so they play the default faces in the match. Jacobs and Lethal start. Lethal dodges a spear and Jacobs bails. A clip is noticeable early on as Lethal takes Jacobs to the mat. He grabs a front facelock but Jacobs comes back with a wristlock. Lethal grabs a headlock but gets hit with the Huss-scissor take down. Jacobs demands that Joe get in the ring. Joe tags in and hiptosses Jacobs into the corner. They trade chops. One guess who gets the better of that exchange. Jacobs gears up for another chop but tags in Whitmer instead. Joe gets an armbar and puts Whitmer on the mat. He hits the crossface forearms and a dropkick to the face. Jacobs and Lethal tag in. Jacobs hits the He-Man chop and but Lethal reverses a headlock to a back suplex for 2. He hits a bodyslam for 2 and tags out. Joe comes in and they toss Jacobs up for 2. Joe hits the Big Joe Combo and toys with Jacobs. He hits a big back elbow and tags out. Lethal comes in and gets 2. He hits a snap suplex for 2. He cuts off the tag and blocks a missile dropkick. Joe tags in and knocks Whitmer off the apron. Lethal aids him in a Tree of Woe face wash for 2. He puts on a Boston crab and then changes to the Samoan crab. Lethal tags in and hits a powerbomb for 2. He hits the chinlock but Jacobs rolls over and gets 2. Joe tags in and he and Lethal miss a double bulldog. Jacobs dropkicks them both and hurricanranas Joe into Lethal. Pretty cool. Whitmer gets the tag and cleans house. He hits a brainbuster on Lethal for 2. Lethal blocks the exploder and hits his second rope DDT for 2. Joe tags in and gets hit with a superkick. He comes back with a side slam for 2. Whitmer hits him with an exploder. Whoa. Jacobs and Lethal tag in. Jacobs blocks the dragon suplex and hits the reverse pedigree. Whitmer comes in and puts Lethal on his shoulders for a doomsday hurricanrana for 2. Lethal comes back with a leg lariat. Joe and Whitmer tag in. Joe chops BJ and JJ down and hits a powerslam on Whitmer for 2. Lethal blocks a Jacobs senton and tosses him to the floor. Lethal and Joe hit a NASTY clothesline/back suplex combo for 2 when Jacobs saves. Joe dumps Jacobs and hits him with a suicide dive. Lethal goes for the diving headbutt but Whitmer cuts him off. He hits the wrist-clutch exploder from the second rope for the win and the titles. ***1/2

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - Black Tiger vs. Dragon Soldier B

The ROH mat has been replaced with a New Japan one in a nice touch. ince he's wearing his regular gear now I'm just going to refer DSB as Kendo Ka Shin. Kendo grabs a headlock but pulls the hair forcing the ref to break. He chokes Tiger out in the corner. He rolls Tiger all around the ring and gets 2. He dizzily rolls up the referee and the crowd counts 2. Tiger comes back with a fisherman's suplex for 2. He hits a dropkick and Kendo bails. Tiger follows him out with a somersault dive. Back in the ring Kendo blocks a crossbody. Tiger gets a guillotine choke but Kendo makes the ropes. The crowd chants USA for the first time on an ROH release. Tiger gets a cross arm breaker but Kendo makes the ropes. Tiger hits a bodyslam and goes for a springboard dropkick but Kendo pulls the ref in front of it. Tiger hits the tiger suplex but the ref is out. Tiger hits a brainbuster for 2 from the sluggish referee. He goes for a piledriver but Kendo blocks. Tiger hits the West Coast Pop for 2. He hits a tombstone piledriver for 2. He goes to the top but Kendo pulls him off with a cross arm breaker for the win. The crowd is not happy with the result, DSB got maybe a dozen moves in during the whole tournament but takes home the win. *

ROH Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament - ROH World Title: Austin Aries vs. Homicide (w/Julius Smokes)

The NJPW-USA mat is still in the ring, which makes me wonder if the tournament final was originally supposed to go on last, but was moved up because of the reaction that Dragon Soldier B got and how awful he's been as well, hey work the mat to start but nobody can get the advantage. Aries gets a cravat but Homicide reverses to a wristlock. He gets a headlock and takes Aries to the mat. Aries grabs a headlock of his own and hits a seated dropkick. Homicide bails and throws and throws a bunch of crap into the ring. Aries kicks it out. Homicide gets back in the ring and gets an armbar. Aries comes back with explosive elbow #1 but Homicide dumps him out of the ring and onto a table. He follows him out and tosses him into the guardrail. He hits a sick running forearm and a back rake. He rolls Aries back into the ring where Aries hits him with a slingshot splash and a springboard moonsault for 2. He hits a forearm in the corner and blocks the Ace Crusher. He hits a snap sidewalk slam for 2. He catches Homicide on the top rope with a hurricanrana and a dropkick for 2. Homicide hits a belly-to-belly overhead suplex for 2. He hits a kick to the back for 2. He hits a double underhook suplex for 2. He hits a kneedrop and rips at Aries' face in the ropes. He sets Aries in the Tree of Woe. Aries catches Homicide with a spinning stunner. He hits a dropkick in the corner. He hits another one for 2. He hits a backbreaker for 2. He hits another one and explosive elbow #2 for 2. He keeps getting 2 counts and puts on the fishhook. Homicide bites his finger before the break. He hits a piledriver for 2. He goes for another but Aries blocks and hits a forearm. Homicide bails so Aries follows him out with a suicide dive. He whips Homicide into the guardrail and rolls him back into the ring. He hits a sit-down power bomb for 2. He goes to the top and hits a crossbody for 2. Homicide hits the hanging DDT for 2. Aries reverses the Clothesline from Hell to the crucifix bomb for 2. Homicide blocks the brainbuster and hits a Yakuza kick for 2. Aries gets a roll up for 2. Aries blocks the Cop Killer and hits the Burning Hammer for 1. Ooooh. Homicide hits a T-bone suplex and a brainbuster. He goes to the floor and sets up a table on the guardrail. He tosses Aries onto it and hits his tope. Back in the ring Aries hits the fireman's carry slam and the 450 splash for 2 when J-Train pulls him out of the ring. In clear view of the referee he smacks Aries around. Danielson comes out and brawls with Smokes to the back. Aries goes back to the top but Homicide catches him with an Ace Crusher. He hits the Clothesline from Hell for 2. Aries reverses a bodyslam to a brainbuster. He goes for the 450 splash but Homicide moves. He reverses the Cop Killer to three rolling brainbusters and hits the 450 splash for the win. This could have been so much better had they just gone out and had the match they'd been building for the past few shows. Instead, they blow off the work Roderick Strong had done on Homicide's back at the previous show, and Homicide decides to use this match of all matches to bring up backstage problems. ***3/4

WWE Friday Night SmackDown 04/20/2012 - Sheamus, Randy Orton & Great Khali vs. Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry & Cody Rhodes

Bryan enters and we head to break; when we return, it is weird seeing Bryan and Henry on the same team. During the entrances, Cody Rhodes chop blocks Khali as he is climbing onto the apron and injuring his leg; medics arrive to help Khali to the back, make this a handicap match, and thus improving the match rating by about three points by eliminating Khali. We return from the second commercial break (before the match actually begins) with pounding on Orton in the corner, Big Show has joined the babyface team which makes it a fair six-man tag match. Rhodes comes back and tags in Bryan who rushes into a hiptoss. He tags in Sheamus predicating Bryan running away and tagging Cody back in. Sheamus pounds on Cody as the commentators discuss the referee edict against him [Sheamus]. He continues to pound him in the corner. Rhodes tries a float-over but gets caught and laid out with a Finlay Roll, for two. He wrings the arm but Rhodes backs him into the ropes and then hits a gutter punch; Sheamus steamrolls back with a clothesline. Rhodes tries to counter a backdrop with a neck breaker, Sheamus tosses him into the ropes for some trapped clubbering. Cody finally takes over with a dropkick, sending Sheamus to the floor, where Bryan is waiting with a running dropkick. Now Bryan is brave enough to legally tag in and kicks away as the fans chant “yes” with him. Booker T finally calls out Michael Cole for supporting Bryan after years of calling him “a geek”. Cole has nothing but, “he’s grown on me.” Henry tags in and STANDS on Sheamus. Rhodes tags in and stomps as well, on the mat and in the corner. He works in a unique leg-trap chinlock; he breaks the hold but eats a drop-toehold into the lower buckles. Rhodes switches into a front facelock. Sheamus tosses him off but Cody lands on his feet; he tries a Disaster kick, but Sheamus blasts him with an Irish Hammer. Orton gets a tag and Cody is hurting; the clotheslines lead to a short powerslam and the Viper DDT. Bryan runs in… right into another powerslam. Henry walks in and wipes out the Viper and give his team the advantage again as we head to break. When we return, Henry is working over Orton with a big head-butt; Bryan tags in and adds some “yes” Stomps and a “yes” running dropkick in the corner. He heads to the top but MISSES the Superfly splash. Show tags in as does Henry. Show is all fired up and floors the strongman with clotheslines; he hits the reverse avalanche but Cody interrupts the follow up spear and Henry completes with the bear clothesline. Now with Big Show down, Rhodes tags in as does Bryan and Henry, with quick tags, to work over Show, triple team style; Cody actually locks in a figure-four leglock on Big Show! Henry walks in, off a tag, and nails a Death From Above while Rhodes still has the figure four on. The splash only gets two though. Bryan tags and hits a Dangerous DDT, for two, the kickout sends Bryan to the floor which allows the hot tag on the other end to Sheamus. He clobbers Bryan and hits the Shamrock powerslam, Rhodes breaks up the pinfall and slides to the floor to gloat. Unfortunately for him, Big Show is there too, unbeknownst to Rhodes, and he gets knocked out with the WMD. Bryan tries for the Yes Lock but Sheamus powers out; Bryan ducks the reciprocating Brogue Kick and tags in Henry. Sheamus lunges for Bryan and gets head-butted across the ring. Sheamus fires right back with a Brogue Kick and tags in Orton. Big Show adds a WMD and Henry stumbles right into the RKO for the 3 count. Very good 6 man main event. Three separate heat segments lead to three different hot tags. Man i really wish WWE did more of these when you have 3 of the top feuds going on and you just let them go out and wrestle on TV for 15-20 minutes the week before the ppv. Trust me it really does help the build towards the ppv and makes people want to watch the matches. ***1/4 Good match.

WWE Extreme Rules 2012 - Two out of Three Falls Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

Sheamus gets a quick side head lock, whips Bryan to the ropes, and drops him with a shoulder block. Sheamus gets a side head lock takedown and goes for the Brogue Kick, but Bryan manages to roll out of the way to avoid the fate he suffered at WrestleMania XXVIII. Bryan catches Sheamus with an arm wringer and leverages him down to the mat, but Sheamus reverses the hold and drives an knee into Bryan's arm on the mat. Sheamus and Bryan circle each other, but Sheamus goes right back to the side head lock. Bryan escapes the hold and goes for a Thesz Press, but Sheamus catches him and counters into a rolling senton for a two count. Sheamus locks in GORGEOUS Texas Cloverleaf (or would that be an Irish Cloverleaf?), but Bryan gets a hand on the ropes to break the hold. Sheamus traps Bryan in the corner and whips him to the opposite corner, but Bryan leaps off the top and flips over Sheamus to avoid contact. Bryan kicks Sheamus to the outside and goes for a knee off the ring apron, but Sheamus catches him in mid-air and drives him back-first into the barricade. Bryan rolls back into the ring and Sheamus heads up top, but Bryan kicks the ropes causing Sheamus to tumble down to the mat. We get dueling "Daniel Bryan! 18 seconds! Daniel Bryan! 18 seconds!" chants from the crowd. Bryan repeatedly kick Sheamus' knee and then locks in some sort of hammer lock / arm bar combination on the mat. Bryan releases one arm and goes to a more standard hammer locks, but Sheamus fights back to his feet and breaks the hold with elbows to the head. Bryan immediately sends Sheamus back to the mat with a drop kick, but Sheamus fights back with punches to the gut. Bryan gets the O'Connor Roll off the ropes for a two count. Bryan goes back to the hammer lock on the mat, but again Sheamus breaks the hold with elbows to the head. Sheamus lands a shoulder to the gut and drops Bryan with a shoulder block. Sheamus stretches Bryan over the ropes and clubs his chest. Sheamus hits a fall-away slam for a two count. Bryan hits a stiff kick to the back and rolls up Sheamus for another two count. Bryan stomps a mud hole in Sheamus in the corner and take him up top. Bryan goes for a top rope hurricanrana, but Sheamus knocks him away and connects with a top rope battering ram for a two count. Bryan gets back to his feet on the apron and Sheamus tries to suplex him back into the ring, but Bryan floats over and lands on his feet. Sheamus charges Bryan, but Bryan low bridges the top rope to send Sheamus tumbling to the outside. Bryan goes for a suicide dive, but Sheamus lands an elbow shot to the skull as Bryan comes through the ropes. Sheamus heads back into the ring and goes for the Celtic Cross, but Bryan sneaks out the back. Sheamus charges Bryan in the corner, but Bryan evades causing Sheamus to post himself in the corner and tumble to the outside. Bryan heads to the outside and whips Sheamus shoulder-first into the ring post. Bryan rolls Sheamus back into the ring and repeatedly whips his shoulder into the ring post. Bryan slides back into the ring and kicks Sheamus' shoulder over… and over… and over… and over… and over… until the referee has no choice but to disqualify Bryan and award the first fall to Sheamus. SHEAMUS WINS THE FIRST FALL VIA DISQUALIFICATION. The second fall begins, and Bryan immediately locks in the Yes Lock. Sheamus tries to make it to the ropes, but ultimately he passes out from the pain. DANIEL BRYAN WINS THE SECOND FALL VIA SUBMISSION. Two doctors check on Sheamus to determine if he can continue while Bryan leads the crowd in a thunderous "YES! YES! YES!" chant the evolves into a "YES! NO! YES! NO!" chant. The third fall eventually begins, and Bryan charges Sheamus, but Sheamus catches Bryan with a Brogue Kick for a looooooooooong two count. Sheamus is selling the shoulder injury like a champ (which, I suppose, he is). Bryan gets back to his feet and goes back to work with kicks to the shoulder. Sheamus makes a point of turning his back to the kicks to protect his shoulder. Nice psychology by Sheamus. Bryan lands a kick to the skull and gets a long two count of his own. That one looked vicious. Bryan heads up top, but Sheamus catches him with a shot to the head. Sheamus pounds on Bryan and heads up top, but Bryan knocks him back down to the mat. Bryan goes for the Benoit Flying Head Butt, but Sheamus rolls out of the way to avoid contact. Sheamus connects with a pair of double ax handles to Bryan. Sheamus connects with a Brogue Kick that turns Bryan inside out and gets the three count.

This was honestly the best pure technical wrestling match I've seen in WWE in a VERY long time. We all know Daniel Bryan is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world, and it was great to see him get a chance to prove that again tonight. I'm so happy they Finally these two get to work a long match and they deliver an absolute war. Great heat, smart psychology, FUCKING AWESOME SELLING BY SHEAMUS and they managed to put over the heel cunning of Bryan while still making Sheamus look like a total badass. I so happy they had this match here but part of me wanted this at WM. ****1/4

WWE Extreme Rules 2012 - Chicago Street Fight for the WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

Punk's family is in attendance tonight in the front row apparently, and he's rocking an awesome new Misfits-inspired t-shirt. Punk and Jericho are both dressed for a street fight. Nice touch. Punk and Jericho slug it out in the middle of the ring to start. Punk beats Jericho into the corner and stomps a mud hole in him. Jericho rolls to the outside, but Punk knocks him over the barrier and into the timekeeper's area. Punk hurls two steel chairs into the ring and rolls Jericho in after them. Punk retrieves a kendo stick from under the ring and climbs into the ring. Punk connects with a brutal kendo stick shot to the back, and that's enough to draw a "ECW! ECW! ECW!" chant from the crowd. Jericho again rolls to the outside and tries to run away, but Punk chases him back into the ring and levels him with a clothesline. Punk goes back to work with the kendo stick before wedging one of the chairs in the corner. Jericho hides behind the referee and sneaks in a thumb to the eye. Punk gets back to his feet on the ring apron, but Jericho connects with a kendo stick shot to the gut. Jericho hits a springboard dropkick to the skull that knocks Punk off the apron. Jericho heads to the outside and beats Punk right in front of his sister. Jericho whips Punk into the barrier, and Punk tumbles into the timekeeper's area. Jericho rolls Punk back into the ring and then climbs back in himself. Jericho removes a turnbuckle cover and uses one of the cables to choke Punk. Punk regains control and goes for a high running knee in the corner, but Jericho evades and Punk again tumbles to the outside. Jericho removes the padding on the barricade in front of Punk's sister and slams Punk's head into the exposed steel. Jericho gets in Punk's sister's face, and she slaps the taste out of his mouth. Jericho lunges at Punk's sister, but Punk knocks him away. Punk has now completely lost it. Punk removes the cover from the announce table, props it up against the table, and scoop slams Jericho through it. Jericho gets back to his feet, grabs a monitor, and drives it into Punk's back. Jericho grabs a piece of the broken table cover and smashes it over Punk's back. Jericho rolls Punk back into the ring and gets a two count. Jericho locks in a chin lock with his knee in Jericho's back, but Punk breaks the hold with a side suplex. Punk gets back to his feet on the apron, and wrenches Jericho's neck across the top rope. Punk goes for a springboard clothesline, but Jericho catches him with a kendo stick shot in mid-air. Jericho heads out of the ring and retrieves a can of beer from under the ring. He toasts Punk and pours the beer all over him in the middle of the ring. Jericho grabs another beer from under the ring, but this time Punk catches him with a kendo stick shot when he climbs back into the ring. Punk connects with a swinging neckbreaker and hits the running high knee in the corner. Punk follows up with the bulldog out of the corner and once again grabs the kendo stick. Punk crotches Jericho with the kendo stick. Punk goes for the Go To Sleep, but Jericho counters into an attempted Walls of Jericho, but Punk kicks Jericho away. Punk gets a quick roll up for a two count. Punk heads up top, but Jericho knocks the ropes to crotch Punk on the top turnbuckle. Jericho heads up top and beats on Punk, but Punk fights back and knocks Jericho back down to the mat. Punk hits the Mach Man Diving Elbow Drop for a loooooooooong two count. That gets a "Thanks you Savage! Thank you Savage! Thank you Savage!" chant from the crowd. Punk goes for the Go To Sleep, but Jericho sneaks out the back and connects with a running bulldog. Jericho goes for the Lionsault, but Punk catches him in mid-air and goes for the Go To Sleep, but Jericho counters to evade contact. Jericho whips Punk head-first into the chair that is still wedged in the corner for a looooooooong two count of his own. Punk struggles back to his feet, but Jericho catches him with a Code Breaker. Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho right in the middle of the ring. Punk makes it to the ropes, but ropes don't cause a break in a Chicago Street Fight. Punk grabs a fire extinguisher from under the ring while still in the Walls of Jericho. Jericho pulls Punk back to the middle of the ring, but Punk sprays the fire extinguisher right in Jericho's face to break the hold. Punk drives the extinguisher into Jericho's gut to knock him out of the ring. Punk again drives the extinguisher into Jericho's gut and rolls him onto the Spanish announce table. PUNK HEADS UP TO THE TOP TURNBUCKLE AND HITS THE MACHO MAN DIVING ELBOW DROP FROM THE TOP TURNBUCKLE TO THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE! HOLY SHIT! Punk eventually rolls Jericho back into the ring and gets another long two count. Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice, but Jericho grabs the kendo stick and repeatedly connects with Punk's head to break the hold. Jericho seriously just splintered the kendo stick over Punk's head. Punk grabs the steel chair, but Jericho catches him with another Code Breaker with Punk's face being driven right into the chair. Jericho drags Punk to his feet and goes for Punk's own Go To Sleep, but Punk counters into a catapult into the corner. Punk catches Jericho on the rebound and hits the Go To Sleep for the three count.

Punk and Jericho had the unenviable task of having to put on a championship match after Sheamus and Bryan delivered a classic, but This one lived up the billing as this was just an absolutely brutal, red hot match with some creative and killer bumps spread through-out perfectly, This was truly a street fight in the arena. ****1/4
