Jimmy Jacobs was/is a good example of what I'm talking about. Great promos, great in the ring, could pop a crowd huge, has travelled the world in basically all the major promotions besides WWE (as a wrestler at least) and is often talked about, but I feel like he's never actually given the proper credit for the work he does. Again, it is definitely still subjective. But my point is mostly that too many people say a wrestler is overrated when really they mean they think they suck
I think expressing not liking a commonly beloved wrestler with the word 'overrated' is the right thing to do. I think the word has such negative connotations that calling a great wrestler that doesnt live up to the hype 'overrated' is the wrong way of communicating it. Even though it makes sense. The word has just undergone neology. Very subjective. A soggy napkin of a word. Very subjective. A soggy napkin of a word.
We can agree to disagree on this one, because while I see and understand exactly what you're saying, and i do believe your points are valid ones, I guess I'm still a little too old school when it comes to terminology such as this.
Deffinitly. The word overrated has been ruined. It's now just as another way of saying they don't like a popular person. Can still be used the way it once was tho.
