John Cusack and Evan Peters have joined Emma Roberts in Adult World, a film that has just begun production in upstate New York through TreeHouse Pictures and Anonymous Content. Scott Coffey (Elle Parker) directs from the script by Andrew Cochran. “Adult World examines the contemporary state of post-graduate life in America,†said TreeHouse Pictures president Justin Nappi. “This is a smart satirical comedy that will resonate with a lot of people.â€

Roberts plays 21-year old Amy Anderson, a recent college graduate with a degree in poetry. Convinced she is the next star in the literary world, moves back with her parents to write poetry — but with a stack of rejection letters, unpaid student loans, and no money, her parents force her to get a “real job.†The only place that will hire her is an erotic bookstore called Adult World. Cusack plays Rat Billings, Amy’s hero and mentor who was one of the greatest poets of the early ’90s. Peters, memorable in the first season of American Horror Story, stars as Manny. CAA reps the actors. Producers are Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen and Anonymous Content’s Joy Gorman and Alex Goldstone will also produce with Manu Gargi. TreeHouse Pictures’ most recent film Arbitrage, starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon, premiered at 2012 Sundance and was acquired by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions.

TreeHouse Pictures is also producing the J.C. Chandor-directed All Is Lost with Robert Redford starring and Lionsgate releasing stateside. They are also currently in post on the untitled Ramin Bahrani film starring Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid.

John Cusack and Emma Watson could be good.

Evan Peters is pretty awesome, and I love John Cusack. I never heard of this until now, sounds like it could be a pretty good flick.

John Cusack makes every movie good. This does sound rather interesting though and Roberts has been really good in everything she has done.
