Back in the 60s-70s. The regular length for title reigns was over a year. For today's standards, Punk's reign is pretty lenghty.

Imo it'd be stupid to give the belt to Cena in his hometown where he's more boo'd than cheered. We'll never get Rock vs Cena at the Royal Rumble so Cena would have to drop it again at some point. I don't see this happening.

Didn't Cena win the title at NoC last year for apparently no reason since he just dropped it to Del Rio less than one month later?

Both those reigns sound incredibly boring so I seem to have wiped them from my memory.

Yes, although he was the only logical face at that time, since Punk was caught up with Haitch. Orton was feuding with Henry and they basically had no other face who was credible.

But why did they give him the title? It's not like Del Rio had to drop it or anything, they could've just kept the title on him until he dropped it to Punk in my opinion. Which resulted in a crap reign by Cena.
