Joe Sakic, Bure, Oates and Sundin head Hall of Fame class of 2012

Four players who terrorized National Hockey League goaltenders over the last two decades are going into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2012 includes Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin, Pavel Bure and Adam Oates. They will be formally inducted in November.

Sakic scored more than 600 goals in his stellar career with the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche.

Sundin also began his career with the Nordiques. But he was best known as a high-scoring centre for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The lightning-quick Bure had five seasons of 50 goals or more after he left the former Soviet Union to join the Vancouver Canucks.

Oates, who was named head coach of the Washington Capitals earlier in the day, was known for his slick passing skills in a long career with seven teams.

Great class this year. All are deserving even though Brendan Shanahan should have been in instead of Sundin but he will probably get in next year.

Sakic is my favourite player of all time, so I couldn't be happier to see him get his due. This is an excellent class though, with every guy deserving of entry.

The first-year inductees next year plus the guys already waiting for induction is overwhelming. It's going to be extremely hard for some guys to get in.

Some guys I actually recognize, cool. I'm not a big fan of hockey but I always though Sakic was great.

Great inductees this year! Bure has always been my favorite player when I was younger.
