Jamie Kennedy is on a mission to make professional wrestler and Deerfield native Colt Cabana (real name Scott Colton) a star.

Kennedy – known for his roles in “Scream,” “Son of the Mask” and “Malibu’s Most Wanted” – has signed the 31-year-old Cabana – who hosts a podcast, stars in a web series and has dabbled with standup comedy and improv – to his Jamie Kennedy Entertainment.

Jamie Kennedy Entertainment will first help distribute Cabana’s 2011 documentary “The Wrestling Road Diaries” to a larger audience and then get to work on other wrestling-related projects with the Wicker Park resident.

"That's the real power of this deal. The wrestling world knows exactly who I am and they supported the movie heavily. … Jamie knows how to reach a group of audience that wouldn't know of 'my world.'"

Kennedy recently filmed WWE Studio’s “Bending the Rules” with retired WWE Superstar Edge and, as Cabana put it, got a bit of the wrestling bug in the process. He would meet Cabana through mutual friend Stu Stone, who co-starred with Kennedy on MTV’s “Blowin’ Up.”

“Stu arranged a ('Road Diaries') screening for Jamie and Jamie couldn't believe what an untapped resource I was,” Cabana said. “He was blown away by the fact that mainstream Hollywood didn't know my story or acknowledge what goes into my specific art form.

“He constantly tells me how impressed he is with my hustle and unwillingness to give up. It's his mission to 'make me a star.' It's a great feeling and truly rewarding to work this hard at my craft and I finally have someone who really believes in me.”

When he isn't working on his entertainment projects or seeing his name trending nationally on Twitter thanks to shoutouts from friend and WWE Champ CM Punk, Cabana, who had a brief stint in WWE himself as Scotty Goldman, is on the road wrestling all over the country and in Australia, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Canada.

"You know me," Cabana said. "Always on the hustle."

Great news for Colt! If anyone on the indies deserves anything like this it's Colt. He's got so many awesome projects and is a funny dude, I hope Kennedy helps him. I'd love to be able to watch The Wrestling Road Diaries on Netflix and stuff.

Jamie Kennedy is my ninja!! Love that guy. Glad he's very fond of Cabana.

I'd mark out if Wrestling Road Diaries gets on Netflix.
