I honestly don't think I've ever seen someone shoplifting from a store but I thought it was an interesting question to raise. While some people would certainly take the "its not my problem" stance, I am sure others would believe it to be their moral obligation to inform the store manager or staff. Personally I would have no problem telling the store manager although knowing me I would probably go up to the person who is shoplifting and tell them that I saw it. At least that way they'd have a chance to put the stuff back without getting caught.

What about you guys?

I have witnessed someone shoplifting before. I didn't get loud, mind my own business, or run and tell. I just walked over to them, kept my calm, told them that I knew what they were doing and it would be in their best interest not to make a mistake like that. Surprisingly it worked, maybe because I look intimidating (been told that by many people), so it all worked out. There's no need to be all heroic unless you're looking for attention. Also, there's no need to turn the other cheek because why should someone steal and get away with it? I have to earn my keep and pay the money for the item, fuck them trying to get it for free.

As long as you don't think the person is going to pull a gun or a knife on you I think that's the best way to do it. At least you're giving them a chance where the store manager or employees would not. They should respect that and head to another store to try their luck there.

I would probably say something to someone. That is one of the reasons that prices get as high as they do and can be an inconvienence for myself. And besides that, people that steal are scum of the earth.

Personally I don't give a flying fuck. I'm not going to interject my business where it doesn't belong. But that's just me.

It depends on what it was honestly if I would or not I guess, I mean me I'm no big guy I'm not about to go ask someone not to steal I'll end up getting my ass kicked or something. But if it was something huge I might tell someone cause hey I can't fight I'm not getting my butt kicked over anything.

I saw someone shoplifting but I didn't see a point in stoping them as it was at a gameshop where they don't put the disks in the case so they would just be stealing a case

I stopped shopping there for that very reason. I don't like someone else opening my package before I've bought it.

That is usually only on the used games they do that isn't it?

New games are always sealed. Of course I could be wrong, I haven't bought a game in like 10 months.

I used to be a district manager for a company that inventoried retail stores. I had an employee that was shoplifting from a store that we were doing the inventory for and I busted him. I walked into the bathroom and this dumbass was in the bathroom stall and asked me a question. I saw him shoving stuff in his shorts between the cracks. Our company policy was to not say anything, so I grabbed the stores LP and we put him in a room and pulled out 6 cd's, 8 dvds, he had a bottle of zanax he took from the pharmacy of the store, I went out and checked the van he rode in to see as he went out the the van a few times there I found 25 sd cards for cameras, a pipe and pipe filters. Needless to say this jack off got a trip to jail with the police and several charges brought against him. In total he had $2900 worth of stuff that he was stealing.
