But I'm getting pretty bored of the same old shit that they're doing with Brock every time he's back on TV.

1.) Stand next to Heyman and do nothing while he delivers a promo
2.) Destroy someone so that we get the idea back in our heads that he's a badass
3.) Stand alongside Heyman again while he delivers another promo and if we're lucky he might say a few words
4.) Take a beating / bump to portray that the guy is beatable

Granted it may not be in that particular order but you get where I'm going. Like I mentioned in the RAW thread this week, this buildup for the Brock/Taker match at WrestleMania has been absolutely fucking terrible. It's lame, it's one-sided and not even the slightest bit creative. For what he offers in the buildup, I sometimes feel as though he may aswell not bother showing up at all until the PPV match and actually make his appearances mean something.

So is it just me who's feeling a little deflated by Brock's appearances until it comes to PPV time?

No, I think you make a fair point. Also, as good as Heyman is Brock needed him much more in 2002 than he does today. Brock's promos have come a long way over the years and now he is a true star.

You could even say that they are doing a lot of the same stuff with Heyman, and for that matter the Undertaker. As well as I am looking forward to the match, the build at this point is a let down.

You know, I never really noticed any of this until you mentioned it in the Raw thread, Dale. But now I agree 100%, and I guess I was just complacent with having Brock and the thought of him/'Taker that I didn't really care.

A man with a certain amount a dates can't really do more than what he does.

Not like you can do a multi layered storyline with Brock. He arrives, leaves someone laying, leaves. Gotta keep it as basic as you can get.

True, but they could give him more promo time and a little bit more of a story behind his feud with Taker. They could return to the UFC showdown and go into Brock's routes for example.

Preaching to the choir, but hindsight booking isn't going to fix his program with Taker, I pitched a similar idea in the Raw thread.

All he has now is one show and it's most likely the one where he finally gets some heat. Go home shows are usually like that.

You guys are thinking too much about this right now.

They're not doing it to make Brock look weak, they're doing it to make Taker look strong. This is the first guy Brock has showed up against and got pummeled by in his whole return. Brock has not gotten the upper hand once. He normally starts with it. Brock vs. Cena. Brock vs. Hunter. Brock vs. Hunter. Brock vs. Hunter. Brock vs. Punk. Now Brock is getting handled, Taker looks strong a year after Punk got into HIS head. Going into the match, when Brock works Taker over for 15 minutes and beats him down, people will suddenly go, "OH SHIT! THIS GUY IS GOING WITH TAKER!"

Pretty sure Big Show destroyed him in both of their encounters before the Rumble match. Brock's looked pretty damn weak in 2014.

To be fair though, Taker did return with a lot less time on the clock than normal. Can't do a whole lot in such a short time span.

I think it was the same amount of time they had to build the Punk feud. No clue what that one would have been if Bearer hadn't of died though.

Not much Taker does in any Mania feud since Orton, they've been pretty much booked the same. Only thing different from the HBK/HHH feuds were where they could go with their promos, damn near 20 years of history between all of them. Didn't have any of that with Orton/Henry/Batista/Edge/Punk because they don't have this whole shroud of mystery of what these guys been through in the locker room since the mid 90s. Hell even Brock doesn't have that much history, a 3 month feud and a stare down isn't exactly going to make the creative team book anything different from "Taker special fx #763" and "Taker spot #08432" like they've done with everyone since the Streak became a thing.

This is a stiff feud anyways. Taker "made the official callout" to Brock back at UFC... it wasn't Brock challenging him. There's personal history (they'll probably build that up on RAW) and they'll go in and settle it at Mania. I don't have a problem with this booking.

Doesn't matter how "personal it is" because none of that shit has even been mentioned on WWE TV I'm pretty sure. I'm almost positive they've not mentioned their HIAC match they had before let alone them referencing something that happened at a UFC event.

Buildup has been utter garbage.

Yeah, I'm with Dale here. They don't even need Brock or 'Taker to bring up past history or the UFC stuff. In fact, with the limited dates, that's what the commentators should have been doing this whole time.

EDIT: Although I do agree the buildup has sucked, I feel the need to stress that I think the match will deliver and make it all alright because no one will remember the buildup.

The match should deliver, both are pretty much at the peak of their powers and is a match which stands out (even if the build hasn't been great).

Will be interesting to see how it compares to past meetings, the first one at Unforgiven 02 wasn't that great, but I really loved the Hell in the Cell meeting the following month.
