I miss him also. People kinda need to appreciate him as the awesome technical wrestler that he was, and sort of put aside their hate as to what he did in his final days. I know that would be hard for many people, but I know that all I remember is Chris Benoit: The Crippler, not Chris Benoit: The Murderer.

He's still Chris Benoit...and Chris Benoit murdered his own child, and his wife, then pussied out and killed himself. I don't give a flying fuck about this "serious mental problems", if he can hide his "mental problems" around the people that he works with, I really think he could control it, and maybe...not kill his family?

Yes, but you can also choose what you want to portray him as. You can portray him as this man who did what he loved for the fans, and put on the best show that he could, or as the image that has all been planted in our heads or a horrible, rampaging monster that murdered his wife and child for no apparent reason. I can understand people who feel the second way against Benoit, but I will always remember him as the wrestler, not for what he did that gained him the most notoriety.

It's what you choose to remember him as, you can choose to forget that he was also one of the greatest professional-wrestlers of all time. I am not praising what he did to his family, I'm praising what he achieved and performed in a ring. I despise what he did in his home and by god, I don't miss that or appreciate it in any way but I do miss his performances in the ring.

So please, don't think I think what he did was good because it was awful. I miss wrestler Chris Benoit.

What I don't get is why people are so quick to praise Benoit despite what he did, and condemn Jeff Hardy because he took drugs. Maybe it's my maternal instinct talking, but I consider harming or killing a child a very serious thing. Jeff took drugs sure, but he can rectify that...Benoit's actions can never be undone. If I want to talk about a dead wrestler I loved, miss, and want back let's talk Eddie Guererro...now THAT was the kind of person who deserved to be loved both in, and out of the ring. Eddie's kids will at least get to grow up. And Vickie is still alive to enjoy life. I'm sorry I just cannot get past Benoit killing an innocent child EVER.

I don't really think I miss him. Amazing wrestler and all, but there really wasn't much left for him to do. We've still got the great matches he put on with the best in the world, and I personally believe a lot of them have a timeless quality anyway.

THAT is the point exactly. The "wrestler" Chris Benoit was just a character on tv. The Chris Benoit who killed his family, and himself? That was the REAL Chris Benoit...the one we didn't see as the heroic wrestler on tv. Really what would you say if you read of an average Joe Schmoe committing such a hideous act in the newspaper?

^I'm going to have to agree with that. Anyone else you would not seperate them completely from their act. If the cook at your favorite restaurant killed his whole family you wouldn't say... "Wow, I miss Joe the cook...not Joe the murderer." Joe may have made some great burgers, but he was still a murderer. It was the same person, just because he played a different character on TV doesn't mean that's not who he was.

To get away from that debate... I was honestly never a Chris Benoit fan. He was great in the ring at times but honestly never really did it for me.

I guess I'm one of the few...but I couldn't stand Chris Benoit, he was an okay wrestler and had horrible mic skills. His best matches were against established stars (Benoit vs. Angle, Benoit/HBK/HHH, Benoit/Eddie), and I don't think Benoit is anywhere near the Top 25 of All-Time.

I can't see anything but the website in my head. DOUBLE MURDER SUICIDE? It was insane. I got a text earlier than the website cause I'm subscribed to that fan text WWE has. I was lying on my couch when I got the text that informed me he and his wife and child were dead. I was actually at the PPV that he 'went missing' from. The night he didn't show up because he was killing his family. Still gives me chills. He was a good wrestler, but he's a monster.

I remember watching that PPV with my friends and discussing what could possily make him no-show the event. Quite disgusted when I found out.

I understand that some people don't want anything to do with Benoit, but there's no denying he was one of the best in the ring. Sure, it may be a selfish reason, but I for one wish that that had never happened. I understand that it can't be undone, but there are certain aspects of him appearing on TV that I miss. If they were to transfer his gimmick to someone else, I'd be more than fulfilled (it's a shame they had to release Brent Albright/Gunner Scott).

I really liked Benoit, but I don't really miss him. I just picture him as one of the wrestlers that I use to watch back in the 90s that I don't see anymore, like Savage, Razor Ramon, Harlem Heat,ect,ect.

To be honest when I think back about him I sometimes forget about the murders I guess becuase, like other said, you think of the wrestler not the guy. Same way when you think back about a tv show you love and the character you liked, you remember the character not the actor/actress who played the part. Also, part of me still wonders if we know everything. Not saying he did or didn't do it, just for some reason things never seemed to all fall into place for me.

But of course thats another debate that has run it's course plenty of times.

I don't miss him like he's in my top 10 (refuse to say the dude's name, 5 posters above) or anything but I miss him for those guaranteed good matches. Midcard was his spot. And lately there's been something missing in the midcard for both shows, I don't know what it is.

Benoit was good but not great IMO. Only recognized Benoit for his WWE run, got cracked in the head by Fit Finlay in a WCW PPV and June 22 - June 25 '07.
