Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports (via WrestleZone) that Batista has been training for a return to wrestling and is close to the 290 pound mark (what he wrestled at during his last WWE run). Batista has said in recent interviews that he is interested in returning to WWE and possibly working with The Rock and Brock Lesnar.

With The Rock's WWE future up in the air, and along with it, the Rock/Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 30 match, it's possible that WWE could bring Batista in to fill in The Rock's role.

Batista does have a role in an upcoming major movie -- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy -- which starts filming this summer.

Big news if this turns out true, although I wonder if the people will give Big Dave the same shit they give Rock for being part time.

Even since his MMA thing didn't work out, he's always been looking for another pay check.

I'm not his biggest fan. However, I did think his heel run before he left WWE was pretty damn awesome.

Dude, check the news bite. With "Guardians of the Galaxy" he has his pay check.

Good. If he wants to make a comeback I'd love it. His MMA career certainly didn't go too well so wrestling his his best option for a combat sport. I can't imagine Rock not wrestling at XXX but Batista would be a viable replacement.

I only remember hearing about his MMA debut but I remember he won it at least. His last heel run was pretty fantastic, a program between him and Brock sounds boring though in all honesty.

His MMA debut was terrible. Watch the match and you'll see why

I'm really not suprised at this one, his MMA debut wasn't the least bit impressive and he hasn't really had any upcoming fights recently so this is definitely a good choice on his part. Besides, he was far too old to be getting started in MMA anyways and he could really help bolster some MMA fans into wrestling and vice versa.

Although to MMA fans I can't imagine it'll be too exciting...

Yeah 43 is just too old to start an MMA career. His opponent was a fat guy who looked like he should be at a donut shop instead of an MMA ring. His name was Vince Lucero. At the beginning he went all apeshit and started swinging at Batista who could barely block. Then after paying cat and mouse for a while, Vince grabbed Batista's leg and fell on it holding him down. After a while Vince got tired and Batista got onto his back and started punching him winning the fight. The only reason he won was because of Vince's terrible cardio. He just didn't belong in an MMA ring.

I know the details my friend, trust me as your MMA mod I definitely saw the fight lol.

The funniest thing is after the fight he tried to complain to the ref about the stoppage. C'mon, a win's not enough.. you actually have the hurt the guy too? He definitely doesn't have the class to be an MMA fighter either.

I for one don't really care to see Batista in a ring again...never was a fan and what are him and his belly button ring gonna feud with Brock? Zzz Ryback? Sheamus? Mark Henry? they all have better things to do...fuck the Deacon

He might as well at this point. He's got no place in an MMA ring and if he's got any charisma like he last did when I watched wrestling I imagine he's making box office disasters on the silver screen.

The Man With the Iron Fists was a box office disaster? I doubt Guardians of the Galaxy will be

I don't know man I've never seen it. I'd love to see it though, I loved watching Cung Le whip ass in Pandorum.

Yeah you don't know so don't say it. The movie grossed more than its budget.
