Jim Ross announced that he interviewed Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart for several hours today in Stamford, CT for a DVD project that will be released this October. I am told the DVD is on the Montreal Screwjob and the issues between Bret and Michaels.

I never thought that this would happen. Even a couple of years ago it would never have happened. It is good to see that they have gotten over the incident and can now discuss everything surrounding it. JR hosting the DVD is a great move and a good way to use him. Should be a huge selling DVD.

Does this DVD interest you?

This sounds awesome because I always wanted to learn more about this. Even though I have decent list on DVD's I want to get, I will absolutely get this. I am shocked they did this.

In a correction from last night, the Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels DVD interviews that were filmed yesterday for an October DVD release by WWE are not just on the Montreal Screwjob, but on the entire series of matches and feud between the two, backstage and on screen, that ran for several years.

While the Screwjob is obviously a big part of that, the DVD is not going to be exclusively devoted to that one incident, but their entire relationship and rivalry.

I actually like this better as it gives it more backstory since they can build up to that incident which will take up the most amount of time anyway.

Can't believe this actually is being turned into a WWE.

Who cares at this point really? Back when there was still a controversy this would have sold more. Now, the bridges are fine again. Can't see this selling.

It was a big thing in wrestling. Just because it was more than ten years ago doesn't mean people are not still interested in hearing both sides talk about it.

There is a history channel ya know. People are interested in history

I would be interested in hearing both sides, at a stage in their life where they don't have to put up a front to make themselves look better than the other. If there is no grandstanding like they did with their respective books. It should be a great DVD investment.

Considering WWE's motto is basically "Fuck the past" your comment about having a history channel ya know is pretty dumb. Also, while it may have been a big thing in "wrestling," wrestling is dead to WWE.

It makes no sense.

WWE's motto is "will it make money?" And this would.

WWE constantly produces DVDs on many past subjects and to forget that is just bias.

This will definitely be a huge seller. It is one of the biggest moments in wrestling and to get both wrestlers point of view on the screwjob and the events leading up to it is huge.

WWE regularly produce DVD's on stars from the past like Piper, Hogan, Hennan, Andre etc. so there is no reason why they wouldn't do a DVD on this.

Can't see it selling? Really? Two of the top 5 names in Wrestling HISTORY together on a DVD and it's not gonna sell?

THe Screwjob ended kayfabe, totally changed the histories of two men, two companies. It's arguably the biggest thing that has EVER happened in the Wrestling business. They might as well be minting money.

The 2nd news update really gives me up that this will possibly be very relaxed, and maybe give insight into when exactly tensions started to grow, turning points in their relationship, when it all blew up and all the shit inbetween that we didn't hear about. I'll actually buy this one. Guaranteed.

Here is some more info from JR

Jim Ross posted a new blog on JrsBarBQ.com, discussing a number of different topics, including the new Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels DVD that WWE will release in October:

"Enjoyed spending parts of two days with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in Stamford, Ct this past week. We actually and accidentally bumped to each other at the hotel on Wednesday night and had a great visit and then had our 'official' gathering Thursday morning until mid afternoon doing the taping for the DVD project.
The HBK/Hitman DVD will be released worldwide this October and I have high expectations for the project. The two legendary, WWE stars sat side by side during the shoot facing yours truly who asked them a battery of questions.

This DVD will not solely focus on the Survivor Series in Montreal in 1997 but we obviously spend a significant amount of time discussing the 'Montreal Screw Job' and the months leading into the infamous event and how both men's careers fared after that infamous day in Montreal.

To be able to sit and talk to two WWE Hall of Famers such as Michaels and Hart who did have a bona fide rivalry at one time but also respected the other's work was a privilege for me. I'm honored to have been assigned this project and hope that it lives up to the expectations we all have for it. I know that both Shawn and Bret were very happy with the day.
For this project to strictly be about Montreal only would be a travesty because neither man's career can be solely defined by the events of the '97 Survivor Series."

Who would have thought that they would discuss this situation sitting side by side! Again it is a great choice to have JR as the interviewer, he was there at the time and is someone that is highly respected. They are rushing this DVD out which is good, out in October so we don't have to wait too long for it.

1. It will be a big seller for all the reasons mentioned.

2. I would like it to focus more on the history of the matches, rather than drag this old story up. Yes it was a huge story, but it was also a low and dirty chapter in wrestling history, and I think it has been shoved down people's throats enough for the last 14 years by WWE, WCW and even TNA. Mention it of couse, but don't make it the main focus of the DVD, there are plenty of great matches between the two and storyline moments to carry the DVD alone. Two of wrestler's biggest ever names, and their classic series of matches is enough right there.
