He never called you dumb though did he? He highlighted a correlation which usually occurs between your statement and intelligence level not a direct link. If he would have said something along the lines of "Due to this statement I believe you are below average intelligence." That would be calling you dumb his statement could be interpreted that way sure but it isn't in any way a certain conclusion.
