ComicBook.com -- Grey Dog Comics announced today that due to declining sales, they would be canceling ALL of their current comic series. This includes long-running series such as Captain Awesome, Arthur and the Round Table, The Wonderfuls. They've announced that going forward they will be releasing only one comic book per week, a super-sized issue ongoing series appropriately named Grey Dog Universe.The new series will feature the same Grey Dog Comics characters fans are used to, only now they will all be featured in one story. Each week, a different corner of the Grey Dog Universe will be featured with stories loosely interconnected from week to week, but with implications that always affect the rest of the heroes whether they're aware at the time or not. Grey Dog's press release can be seen below spotlighting characters known to all, but rumors have it that the focus might be on a newer era of characters instead once the series gets going. Time will tell if this experiment will be a success.

Second post is updated with game world information. This game is Comic Book Universe made by Adam Ryland (TEW guy which is why it looks so similar in ways...you'll even see some wrestlers as heroes and villains), and I won't be playing per se, but I'll be letting the AI take over for as much as possible and attempting to make a cohesive story out of the events that happen. I'm playing on "Experienced" difficulty as I did some experimenting with rookie prior and it seemed like too much good guy victories. Hopefully it doesn't result in an overcorrection or this will be a very depressing story lol. Some issues have battles, some have other encounters, others are just quick story or relationship development notes, it's all randomized in game.

Prologue

In an undisclosed location, Scare monologues about the concept of control before revealing that he has captured the anti-hero, Darvin the Monster Hunter, who looks to be in a comatose state attached to a machine with medical readings in an abandoned building.


Part 1: Mr. Know-It-All

Believing Scare to be up to something, Serena enlists the help of ShamRock who she met at a local Parisian Quarter pub. But before she can fully explain her concerns, the observerant Mr. Know-It-All who had been hired by Scare to keep eyes off of him, is able to start a false rumor leading Serena off of Scare's trail, and unknown of what Scare has in store for Darvin.

Part 2: Skirmish in the Parisian Quarter

Having been notified by Serena to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity from Scare, the team of Burning Ember, The Flashing Blade, and Cain the Shorn all 3 managed to track a lead to a restaurant also in the Parisian Quarter, but there a team hired by Scare of Iron Raptor, Manaconda, and Tauran. In the course of the short brawl inside the restaurant, Burning Ember suffered a medium injury from Manaconda, while The Flashing Blade managed to give Iron Raptor a minor injury from a blow from his blade. Due to the distraction of the skirmish, Scare is revealed to be using underground tunnels in the Parisian Quarter, and moves from being based underneath the current restaurant.

Part 3: Facin' Scare

Scare attempted to regroup with his allies/henchmen discretely in the Parisian Quarter, but Trademark blew their cover. Scare retreated to his underground tunnels, but this revealed them to nearby heroes Cyco and Loan Shark, who were later joined by Mental Edge, Scarlet Guardian, and Snowstorm to battle the evil doers. Over the course of the battle, Trademark suffered a medium injury from Snowstorm's cold shock, Shark Tank suffered a minor injury from Lone Shark's shark repellent tear gas, Fear Fairy suffered a minor injury from Mental Edge's double mind bombs, and after being knocked out from Cyco's powerful concussive blast, Lilah Bloodstone was arrested and jailed. Scare was able to escape deeper into his tunnels, but this time he was not alone.

Part 4: Saving the Monster Hunter

Having realized she was in over her head in trying to confront Scare after the encounter with Know-It-All, Serena enlisted the help of Dreamstate and Preview. Together the three are able to follow Scare back to where he was keeping Darvin the Monster Hunter. Once cornered, Scare is quickly backed down as the three heroes refuse to give into any of his fear-baiting. This allows them to break the hold Scare has on Darvin, who's able to recover from the fear mind control.

Elsewhere in the Grey Dog Universe...

In Boom Town, Agent Torrent is seen entering of all places a bowing alley. She greets Improbable Man who proceeds to bowl his own head down the lane for a strike as this seems to be the beginning stages of a new friendship.

Part 1: Skirmish in Downtown San Habbershon

In the city of San Habbershon, noted hero Oceanio has recruited Neutron Man and the rebel assassin Xtinction to help him investigate rumors of a powerplay being made by Lead Man on the local underworld. They are confronted by the trio of Blind Rage, Hisshi, and Pink Lotus who hae been hired by Lead Man and promised prominent positions in his new regime once he takes over. In the course of the skirmish, Xtinction was able to land sniper shots on Blind Rage and Hisshi resulting in a medium injury to Hisshi, and Blind Rage arrested and incarcareted. Meanwhile, Pink Lotus was taken out by an energy punch by Neutron Man, and also jailed by authorities. The ragtag trio of heroes learn the location of Lead Man and his cohorts who are currently planning their coup.

Part 2: Lead Man underworld control coup

Upon learning the location of the secret meeting Lead Man has planned to initiate his takeover, Oceanio and Xtinction enlist the help of The Wombat, and Ape Crusador members, Wagner, Vivaldi, and Verdi, where they ambush Lead Man and his evil cohorts of Anathema, Devil Monkey, Scuttlebutt, and Talos. A massive battle ensues throughout downtown San Habbershon. The giant Talos is quickly taken out by a legsweep into a gorilla press from Vivaldi, and this allows the authorities to capture and COMMIT him to the insane asylum. Scuttlebutt is then shot by Xtinction and put out of commission with a medium injury, but meanwhile, The Wombat is taken out with a medium injury as well after being hit with a dark magic blast by Devil Monkey. The heroes go on an all-out barrage where Lead Man himself is taken out with a medium injury after a trident strike from Oceanio, Wagner lands a Swing-By dropkick that results in a minor injury to Anathema, but left to his own vices, Vivaldi goes on a frenzied ape attack which results in a CRITICAL INJURY to Devil Monkey. The heroes pull the Vivaldi off of Devil Monkey just before permanent damage can be done. The underworld takeover has been thwarted, but at what cost.

Elsewhere in the Grey Dog Universe...

Over on the island of Albion, the Round Table have been called for a meeting. Captain Albion and Arthur introduce young Kid Albion, who announces that he thinks it's best that he leaves the Round Table to explore the rest of the world in order to become his own man, and finally leave the shadow of Captian Albion.​

Deep in the heart of Little Venice in Centenary City, Heat Seeker woke up thinking this was an ordinary day, but it was far from that. Before he could even heat his morning coffee, he was accosted by the Centenary City police, who are the most reputable in the entire planet…Heat Seeker would know since he is a member of the CCPD himself. Thankfully, the police, not wanting to follow their orders, supported Heat Seeker’s innocence and allowed him to keep his mask on. Heat Seeker would find out he was accused of burning down a local marina in Little Italy, one which he’d just visited a few days prior. It was revealed that there was CCTV footage of Heat Seeker setting the fire.

Knowing he needed expert legal help, Heat Seeker called upon the services of Legal Eagle, who thankfully brought along Doctor Wonderful to consult as well who had already caught word of Heat Seeker’s situation. Once the trial starts, Legal Eagle struggles to sway the jury due to the video evidence, but this changes when his expert witness Doctor Wonderful analyzes the heat signatures of the video, which show which parts of the footage were explicitly doctored. Not only that, Wonderful was able to unearth a hidden watermark signifying the actual arsonist was none other than The Thinking Fink who was trying to falsely accuse his nemesis, Heat Seeker. Heat Seeker’s name was cleared, but sadly Fink was able to escape capture.


Elsewhere in the Grey Dog Universe…

In the classic Principal City, we head to a lowly magic shop in a small, dead-end neighborhood. Inside, the entity known as the Blue Wraith, once a woman, is tending to her herbal shop inventory when someone comes in after hours. It is revealed to be none other than Captain Awesome, who announces he’s here to make her acquaintance.​

Not sure about actors but there's def marvel and DC mods for their comic unverses. This base universe doesn't even touch on things like other planets, dimensions, or time travel which is possible to include as easily as a new location.

You can download a free trial on the Grey Dog website and play 6 issues btw. Just a fair warning some will be short and not have battles depending on your dice roll which decides that issues scenario
