Sanada left W-1. Muto can remain the Ace now. Akiyama should sign him ASAP and there you go, Miyahara gets a generation rival.

Only problem there is that Sanada has apparently said he doesn't want a big Japanese commitment right now since he wants to make it work in the states. But I am all for your idea.

It's only a matter of time until he re-affiliates with a promotion imo. His indy career isn't exactly taking off and being connected to one of the big ones would at least guarantee him a steady stream of bookings (look no further than Watanabe, he might not make much noise in the states, but he's working a lot in Canada). And AJPW is the most likely place he'd end up in imo unless he re-signs with W1. Too big for DG, doesn't fit in in NOAH and I don't think NJPW would want him since they can make their own.

A steady paycheck will drive him to sign with a jap promotion. And honestly he'll get more shots in AJPW unless Takagi does a 180 on the W1 booking.

From the keyboard of Meltzer:
Wrestle-1, the Japanese promotion owned by Keiji Muto and now run by Sanshiro Takagi, is doing a five date East Coast tour late this months with APWA out of West Virginia.

We had reported a few months ago on the tour but they officially announced these dates today:

6/23 in Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena

6/25 in Belle Vernon, PA at the Rostraver Ice Arena

6/26 in Parkersburg, WV

6/27 in Shelby, NC at the site of the old Crockett TV tapings

6/28 in Atlanta

Tickets go on sale at the 2300 Arena tomorrow (Monday) for the first show.

Takagi already hard at work. Also, Hideki Suzuki in the states :fap:

It's here.

Dug this one a lot more than their previous match. It's the classic story of the guy trying to slay the giant. Go tries just about everything to take down the big man and sells and bumps well for Bono's offence, making it look much more effective than last time. Bono's new finisher seems like death as well.

@Bort @Jacob Fox (I know you watch NJPW so now you get some AJPW as well).

That was a pretty decent match, thanks for posting it. Yeah, I don't get to see much AJPW, not because I don't like it, it's just with WWE, ROH, NXT, LU, NWA, Shine and NJPW, it's just a bit of an overload. But that was fun to watch. Akebono really has the classic big man method of wrestling...slow and plodding, but effective when he gets his hands on you. This reminded me a lot of when Andre the Giant was getting older and couldn't move like he used to... which is a compliment, believe me. I don't make Andre comparisons lightly. It was slightly amusing watching him get up because it was the same each time... legs splayed out, straightens his knees, holds for a moment while his belly hangs down and straightens himself up. But once he was on his feet and got his hands on Shiozaki, each move was very effective.

Thanks again. I enjoyed that.

Yup, I watch the NWA. It's not a huge priority for me and I only watch a couple affiliates, but I like that it's a scaled down version of the territory system. Some of these independent cards put a lot of the major ones to shame. That being said, they're the minority, but they do exist.

In more AJPW news: All Japan are launching their own on demand service. All Japan Pro Wrestling Life. They will start out with the shows from June/July 2014 through January/February 2015 and then start adding on shows after/before that. But that is going to be the starting line up.

I haven't found a launch date for it yet tho. But some time this year.

That's awesome. Hopefully they air something from the smaller shows, because judging by the lineups, there could be some sneaky good matches in there. Happens on every tour.

It'll cost 777 yen a month apparently. So it'll be cheaper than world as well. Looking forward to trying it. Hopefully it'll be up and running by this year's Royal Road Tournament in the fall.
