More WWE main roster stars could be showing up in NXT soon.
In the
Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has plans for more major main roster stars to work NXT. Meltzer noted that Ronda Rousey is one name that has at least been talked about.
There are plans for more major stars to work NXT like [Seth] Rollins did this week. One name that was at least talked about was Rousey, or perhaps even having Rousey & [Shayna] Baszler defend the women’s tag titles there. But the goal is to use the main roster stars to increase the ratings, and the Rollins experiment was a huge success, so when something works in wrestling the idea is that you usually follow up on it.
Rousey & Shayna Baszler are the current WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. They're facing NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn in a unification match on SmackDown tonight.
Seth Rollins, Mustafa Ali, Baron Corbin, Dana Brooke, Angel Garza, and Humberto Carrillo are among the wrestlers who have appeared in NXT recently.
With Rollins defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker in the main event, week one of NXT Gold Rush
averaged 773,000 viewers this past Tuesday. It was NXT's highest viewership total since April 2021. The 0.23 rating that NXT drew in the 18-49 demo was tied for the show's best number since October 2020.
Corbin is challenging Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship on Gold Rush week two next Tuesday.
