if you can take an old trope that's been done a million times and make it still feel unique to your story, I'll tend to be even more impressed

On the flip side, we've never gotten this many actually good sequels, prequels or whatever. Used to they were just lower budget cash grabs and always sucked outside of a few exceptions lol

but like ya lol ofc avatar 2 killed it, it had good promotion, it had a franchise name to a super seller, and they plan when it comes out to the best effect. yes the movie is still quality im sure but that wasnt the biggest selling point. the selling point was the name

lol thats true, sequels were almost always trash and the exception was Empire Strikes Back and thats it lol

ultimately I think like with most media, music especially as well, we have gotten too efficient at selling and manufacturing moments that its become a legit science. that, in turn, takes away a lot of ad lib and creativity. leads to more polished products but can sometimes lead to shit feeling phony or souless
