Reading the article, I don't see how it's a bad thing. It should save a lot of gig workers money as companies like Lyft and Uber will need to give their employees W2s rather than the workers having to fill out 1099's. It should save a lot of people a lot of money from self-employment taxes

The issue is that a lot of big box stores are exploiting the loose interpretation of independent contractors and are hiring more ''independent contractors'' so they can advertise their employees make a dollar more than minimum wage, but then only hire people as independent contractors and pay them strictly minimum wage and can pass the taxes they would normally pay onto the worker.

Ehh I put so many miles on my vehicle I never have to pay in and I get more money to live my week to week life. W2’s mean I work for them 1099 I work for myself….just don’t care for it at all
