I would try Franchise in MLB The Show, but it is too intimidating to me

Same way too many moving pieces to control

NHL actually isn't nearly as intimidating for me since I know it a bit better and it is a touch easier

Salary cap, min you need to go to, a max

Sign enough players to fill your NHL and AHL team, reach the cap floor, and you're good

My old roommate used to spend hours fantasy drafting teams in a franchise mode then making a ton of trades to build his perfect roster and then just never Sim or play a game lol he just wanted to draft

I fing hate the draft in NHL games though for franchise mode, so many nerfed rookies

And I have done a few Franchise modes in the NHL series, my best one was an expansion team in 2021 as "The Portland Dragons"

Most rookies don't play in the NHL right away IRL, so it is decent. It comes down to letting them grow and putting them in appropriate roles where they thrive

I had a rookie in NHL 21 on my Portland Dragons go from a High Top 6 to a Medium Elite by waiting a year or two before putting him on the main roster, then when I got him there, put him on a line where he had +5 chemistry and he thrived

I had 7 years in a franchise mode where the best draft choice each year was around 62 in NHL 19, waasn't very realistic there
